Fiscal Court Magistrate Tiebreaker- Thursday, November 10th, 2022 · Watch on YouTube ↗
Summary
Fourth District Tiebreaker
This special session of the Breckinridge County Fiscal Court was called solely to resolve a tie vote in the race for Fourth District Magistrate between candidates Ronnie Robinson and David Albright.
By Kentucky statute (KRS 118.425, paragraph six), when two candidates receive an equal number of votes for the same office, the outcome must be determined by lot, in the presence of at least three other people. The board let the candidates decide how to conduct the lot, and they agreed to a coin flip: Ronnie Robinson flipped the coin, and David Albright called it.
The coin flip result favored David Albright, who will become the Fourth District Magistrate. Ronnie Robinson congratulated Albright, noting that this kind of tiebreaker is a rare, possibly unprecedented event in Breckinridge County history.
No other county business, motions, or agenda items were addressed at this brief special meeting.
