Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on September 2, 2025 and approved all bills, then moved through a short agenda of zoning, appointments, resolutions and hires.

The court gave first reading to a rezoning of about 9.996 acres on Horsefly Hollow Road from agricultural to R1 residential so one lot can be split off for a single-family home. The planning commission recommended approval with restrictions: no further subdivision without approval and no street lighting. A neighbor spoke and was satisfied that only one house would be allowed. Second reading is set for September 16.

The court appointed Carrie Blevins, chief of the Fairdale fire department, to the Nichols Fire District board. It also approved lowering the speed limit to 25 mph on Clintar Drive, with a second road added by motion. Deputies will step up enforcement rather than install speed humps.

The court passed a resolution opposing the regional driver's license program and urging that licensing return to each county. It also passed a resolution asking the state to lower the speed limit on part of Highway 245 from 55 to 45 and in the school zone from 45 to 35. The state will study the request, which could take a while.

The court gave first reading to an ordinance on radio reception requirements for large new buildings so first responders can communicate inside them. It approved hiring three part-time EMTs who had worked for the county before, and then adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
