Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met June 2, 2026. Routine business was approved first: the May 19 minutes, the treasurer's transfer report and all bills, each by unanimous roll call.

The court thanked Phil Barnhart for three years representing it on the Mount Washington Fire Protection District. It accepted the lone bid, from Rumpke, for Dumpster Days at roughly $63,000 (priced by the pound, with no increase from last year). It also approved paying an employee to check IDs at Saturday's community shredding day at the county extension office.

Residents of the Deer Run and Fox Chase area spoke at length about a proposed truck terminal off Hebron Lane. They cited dirt hauling beyond permit limits, burning, dust, a deep retention basin, 22-ton bridges and a narrow road. Officials said they would meet with the planning and zoning official, review the land disturbance permit and follow up. They also said the court would need to vote on purchasing scales for the bridges. Candidate Amanda Spalding addressed the court about her run for Family Court judge.

The court held first readings on two zoning ordinances. The Pope property at 1600 Greenbrier Road (B-1 to R-1) had a favorable planning recommendation. For the Biggs request on Markwell Lane (agricultural to B-1), the planning commission recommended denial. The court voted not to allow the applicants' withdrawal, so a denial would bar refiling for a year. Many Markwell Lane neighbors spoke against the rezoning, and a magistrate indicated he would vote against it. Second readings are set for June 16, with the meeting at 9:30 a.m.

The court also appointed Denine Cooper to the county library board of trustees for a term ending June 30, 2030. A second library board appointment was being considered when the transcript ends.
