Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on July 15, 2025. Routine business was approved by unanimous votes: the minutes of the June 30 special meeting, the treasurer's transfer report, all bills, and the treasurer's report.

The court presented a certificate to Tammy for her work with the mental health court. Christie, the county's contact for the Collins Hill landfill project, gave an update on the closure of the old landfill in Belmont. A force main is being installed to carry leachate to the Shepherdsville wastewater system. The state is paying for the work, which is expected to cost about $3.2 million. Physical work should wrap up around late October or November, with contracts complete by December. The county will then take over the site, which has restricted uses because of its cap. The county will contract with the City of Shepherdsville for maintenance and will pay a small sewer bill.

Jeremy Willis was nominated and approved for the Parks and Recreation Board. A magistrate also pushed for fixing the restroom doors and walkway at the pool house park instead of doing a full renovation, because of the sewer hookup moratorium. The discussion ended with a request for a new bid for two doors and a concrete walkway. The court also discussed brownfield redevelopment opportunities.

The court passed a resolution to seek a survey to lower the speed limit on Buckman Street in Shepherdsville to 25 mph, after a pedestrian was hit there recently. The limit would run to Old Preston Street. The meeting then adjourned.
