Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met March 7, 2023, with the recent windstorm and flooding a recurring theme. Routine business, including the treasurer's transfer report, bills and the Feb. 21 minutes, all passed.

A Red Trail Road resident asked for help with creek erosion that threatens a bridge on a road serving six families. A magistrate said the road department director has inspected it and can break and grade the road with stockpiled creek gravel once storm work is caught up. Residents were pointed to county staff for guidance on creek work permitting.

The court gave first reading to the Aaron Hasty, Reagan and Holton Act (Ordinance 2304), requiring working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in dwellings, with fines up to $250 per violation. It gets a second reading March 21. Changes since the earlier reading were requested by fire chiefs.

The court approved surplus lists for parks and the road department, named a new private road Hannah Ridge Road for emergency services addressing, and authorized parks staff to apply for two federal matching grants, a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant for the Maryville park pool and a Recreational Trails Program grant, each up to $250,000. It also moved a paramedic to full time starting March 24. A first reading of Ordinance 2307 on meeting times was held, with discussion of making it effective July 1 to avoid creating special meetings.
