Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of April 18, 2023
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 04 18 2023
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on April 18, 2023. It approved routine items (treasurer's transfer report, bills, minutes, treasurer's report) and heard a presentation from Blue Mine, a primary-care clinic network, as the county looks for health coverage because Humana is leaving the employee benefits market.
The County Clerk turned over about $1.54 million in excess fees, and the court voted to put it in escrow for future clerk's office space. The Sheriff presented a surplus of about $1.7 million. The court set aside money for a $2 per hour raise for sheriff's office employees, and approved spending on an armored rescue vehicle, roof repairs at the special operations facility, gravel for the impound lot, and painting and drywall repairs.
The 911 dispatch director asked for a $2 raise for dispatchers, citing heavy call volume and losses of staff to higher-paying agencies. The court committed to the $2 raise in its 2023-24 budget. Members said more work is needed on 911 funding.
The court gave second reading to two zoning changes (ordinances 2309 and 2310) and first reading to a flood damage prevention ordinance amendment. It debated blanket interlocal agreements with cities, approved a part-time kennel attendant (with one no vote) and a full-time hire, and approved surplus items from the sheriff's office. It then moved into closed session on a land purchase.
