Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met April 7, 2026. It approved the March 17 minutes, the treasurer's transfer report and all bills, and heard a reminder from the Chamber of Commerce about a candidate forum on April 23 and a casino night on April 24.

Health Department director Rob presented the unchanged health tax rate of 24 cents per $100, which needs no court action. He also described plans for a community resource center in the 8,600-square-foot Hillview building. It would bring many service partners under one roof, and the city is providing the space at no rent.

The court passed the second reading of budget amendment 25-17. It held first readings and public hearings for three rezonings: James Jewell (storage units, B1), Keith Capps (R1 residential) and Charles Gilbert (R4). No one spoke for or against any of them. Second readings are set for April 21.

The court extended the jail program facilitator services agreement and approved a temporary land use agreement letting the state transportation department use county land near the fairgrounds, through September 30, 2027, during the KY 245 widening. It also approved a letter of non-objection for JLM's foreign trade zone application. It paid Brenda Hodge $135 for working the household hazardous waste event.

The court approved EMS personnel moves: Shelby Thomas back to full-time paramedic, a pay increase for James Vault, and a swap in which Corey Ferris moves to the LEPC coordinator job and Walter Bergen moves to EMS as a technician to maintain ambulances. Magistrates raised a damaged water meter and a drainage issue, and one magistrate described unclaimed state property owed to county entities. The meeting adjourned at 10:17.

Thank you for correcting me. — Yes. So be there April 23rd 6 p.m. — Thank you. — Thank you Kaylee. Um presentations of Rob Health Department tax rate. — Good morning. — Morning Rob. This is our uh annual trip to get our uh present our tax rate for the year. Um you know the health department we had our at our last board meeting our board met and they voted. I think you have a copy of the resolution in your packet. Uh they vote to set the tax rate for the health department at 2.4 cents per $100.

  • 9:14

This the same tax rate that's been in place I think for 20 plus years. It hasn't changed in quite a long time. Um I think in Bullet County, our tax rate is one of the fifth or sixth lowest in the state out of about 117 counties. There's a few that don't have a county tax rate such as Lo Metro. Their health department is part of city government. They don't have a separate tax rate. Um, so again, our recommendation and our board vote to approve it at the same rate as it's been. Um, so we're just asking to we have to present that every year to the court and have that put into the record so that way the sheriff has that information. Um, and if you have any questions of me about the tax rate or anything else about the health department, be happy to answer. — Any questions? — No action or nothing needs to be required today or anything. It it's not required. Yeah. For for our our for the public health tax rate, there's not required approval by fiscal board. — Yeah. Thanks a lot. Thanks for everything you do. — I have a question about the building in Hillview. Are you all getting ready to put some offices in there or something? Is there something you could tell us about there? — Yeah, we we Yeah, we've talked about that in a couple different meetings. We have been um one of the things when I came on board a little over three years
