Summary

The Bullet County Fiscal Court met on October 1, 2024. It approved the previous minutes, the treasurer's transfer report and all bills, all by unanimous roll call votes.

The court heard guests: the new Bullitt County Sheriff's Office Foundation, which is hosting its first awards dinner on November 7. A drug court coordinator invited the public to an overdose awareness event on October 16 at the Westbound amphitheater in Mount Washington. Boy Scout Silas Hayes was recognized for a contribution to the animal shelter.

On land use, the court held first readings and public hearings for two rezonings (Elizabeth Thornhill and Chad and Teran). No one spoke for or against either. It gave second reading and approval to a rezoning for Lloyd and Maota Marman. It also directed the county attorney to draft an interlocal agreement so the school board can expand the playground at Nichols school on county property.

The court adopted the EPAD (energy project assessment district) ordinance 2416, which lets property owners finance energy projects through assessments. A developer said the first project will be the Saltwell Springs apartment community. It also passed an animal control ordinance amendment (2422), including kennel licensing for entities with more than nine dogs. A memorandum of agreement with a health provider for the Lebanon Junction building was approved.

Other actions: the administrative code was approved for 2024-25, the three-year Time Clock Plus bid was accepted, and Maplewood Drive and Vista Court were accepted into the county road system. The court reappointed Clinton to the tourism board and hired three EMS employees (two EMTs and an inventory control clerk). The sheriff promoted the chili supper benefiting the DARE program, and the meeting adjourned at 10:25.

special invi and sponsor only so I just have a flyer for everybody and thank you Justin thank you so the purpose of the foundation uh the sheriff's office as you know a public office cannot spend public funds on certain things by law such as uh employee recognition U when officers need assistance as far as let's say covering medical bills if they're injured on duty uh different things like that if they had other things going on in their lives let's say somebody's unfortunately if somebody's house you know burns down or anything like that so the foundation has been set up to help support uh the members of the sheriff's office in those times of need uh as well as these special recognition opportunities such as the awards dinner because this will be the first Sheriff's Office Awards dinner it's terrific yeah if I might add here's important everybody the bullet County Sheriff's Foundation doesn't have anything to do with Sheriff Walt

  • 8:43

Scher any future sheriffs or anything of that because we get elected to to uh be in charge of the Sheriff's Office the foundation is a totally separate thing it's got a board of directors that are not appointed by the sheriff or anything nature they they are a totally separate entity and it is to provide support to the Sheriff's office or members of the Sheriff's Office and any request for funding uh for some project or anything like that goes to the board and that board would make a determination as to whether to expend Foundation funds which are private funds for that it is a 501c3 organiz so any donations to the Bulet County Sheriff's Foundation are tax deductible and uh very much appreciated by uh the community and and uh the idea Mount Washington police department created a Washington police foundation back in 2019 and the Louisville police foundation they've been in existence for quite some time there's a number of of

police organizations law enforcement organizations St that have uh foundations and it provides we have a deputy for instance that runs out of sick time because they were shot are are injured not on duty but let's say they get injured on duty and they get Workers Comp well workers comp is less than what their pay is so they start running into trouble because they serve the people of bullet County and they can't support their family properly this Foundation could provide them with additional funds that would be illegal for the Sheriff's Office to provide so that's the purpose of it and any help anybody can give uh to uh the foundation uh to provide you know funds that we're hoping it's going to we're going to be putting on some other fundraisers or the foundation is as the time goes by to generate funds for it and anybody and everybody's help and assistance and prayers for it success would be greatly appreciated okay thank you well Dustin thank you for all your work that you put into this and energy thank you yeah thanks a lot it's great idea okay um the next guest speaker that
