Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on May 4, 2021, and approved routine business: the treasurer's transfer report, the bills and the April 20 minutes. The court also heard a proclamation naming May 16-22 Emergency Medical Services Week.

The court approved the Sheriff's Department surplus list and security fencing around the sheriff's new compound on Saltwell Drive, which the department will pay for from its own budget. It also approved the Rumpke bid for countywide cleanup days. Cleanup days are set for June 12 (Mount Washington Middle and North Bullitt) and June 26 (Nichols and LJ elementary, and the old Shepherdsville High School lot), 8 to 4 both days.

Several EMS staffing actions passed: hiring a full-time paramedic at $25/hour, hiring three full-time EMTs at $17.50/hour, and upgrading an employee from advanced EMT to paramedic. EMS officials said the service is fully staffed for the first time in years and response times have dropped from about 12 minutes to the high eights.

The county clerk's elections office asked the court to reserve $600,000 in the budget for new election equipment, including ballot-on-demand printing and vote centers. It is a placeholder, and the purchase would come back to the court for approval after a bid process. The clerk's $643,000 building line is also being held as a placeholder. Officials noted that CARES money cannot be used for elections.

The court held the first reading of the 2021-2022 budget ordinance, with a grand total of roughly $31.5 million across all funds, and will send it to the state Department for Local Government for review. Magistrates congratulated new County Attorney Rob Flaherty, and the meeting adjourned.

kind of um i guess thanking the sheriff's office for the detailed information that they provide i know walt uh does a great job and a lot of that i was talking to master mitchell he does a a great job of explaining things and and putting it in detail when he does have requests not to cut any other departments but uh he's very thorough and when he requests something and that packet it really lays it out there and i think it stresses the importance of of why they need that and if you need a motion on that i'll make a motion to accept a proposal uh to provide the security fencing at 200 saltwell court i understand that the sheriff's department's going to be paying that out of their budget and uh they just need permission to do so and uh i think that all the reasons why they they want to fence that in and there there's not any reason i can see why we'd want to prohibit that so i'll make a motion that we approve that okay okay we we have a motion by a second district magistrate logsdon a second by both fourth and first district magistrates mitchell and in rahel to approve the security fencing for the sheriff's department at their
