Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of May 3, 2022
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 05 03 2022
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met May 3, 2022, and worked through a full slate of routine and substantive business. The court approved the treasurer's transfer report, the bills, and the minutes of the April 19 regular meeting and the April 29 special meeting.
The court recognized the road department for striping Knob Creek Road and Armstrong Lane, and discussed how interlocal agreements with cities let the county do work and be reimbursed. It approved an interlocal agreement with Lebanon Junction for city road help and passed a resolution on the water main extension and pump station project, which will use a six-inch line with fire hydrants to serve about 37 homes.
The court accepted Rumpke's bid for cleanup days, held May 21 and June 4. Cleanup days are open to all Bullitt County residents with a license showing a county address, including those with Mount Washington addresses who live outside the city limits. Other approvals included the County Road Aid cooperative program agreement, the reappointment of Clara Davis to the library board, a budget amendment, and new EMS hires.
During public comments, residents raised mud and dirt on roads, a request to buy surplus land near the old Collins Road dump (which would need to go through a surplus and bid process), and the condition of Highway 44. The court adjourned after closing remarks.

- 4:57
the court to a road department for what they do and the cooperation that this court has had with the other cities state highway department as we move forward any comments or questions so many people get hurt after this i think this is just another example of what we've been able to do you know with the purpose of the paving machine and different things in the road department by having these interlocal agreements i know a lot of people don't understand even on social media some people what are you all doing out there in knock break road and different things like that but having these interlocal agreements really allows us to work with different municipalities cities and even clean the state in this case and not have to wait on them to do it but then we can turn around and get reimbursed and build back for for the work that we do uh we've worked a lot real closely in my district i know with mount washington and we've got some plans to do a lot of other stuff coming up here in the future
- 6:11
with the city of mount washington where they're looking to uh looking for us to help them out and we'll be reimbursed so it's it's all of our tax dollars being used but just being used kind of in a different way people's used to maybe seeing but these center local agreements i think are a great way to have all the cities kind of work together and the county work with the cities and cities work with the states i really like our relationship that we have with the different people and and and to touch base on what uh jerry said i appreciate the role department coming out armstrong lane there's been actually there's a social media post put on back in january asking about uh if we could get the side of the road strike so we looked into it robert watkins our supervisor road department he went over there measured the road to different areas and found out what are what what portion of the road that could be striked and what couldn't there are some areas of armstrong hopefully down the road we can look at widening because of all the development in that area but but it's a tough situation and i'll get off my soapbox real quick but it just goes back in the county we maintain a lot of county roads that that you know a lot of people said you know if you know how to drive home they're good roads but they're just not wide enough after some of these developments take place and you get increased traffic but it's one of those things where we've got to continue our relationships with the cities because a lot of these developments
- 7:25
obviously are being annexed by the city but in order to get to those developments you have to use county roads so there is a little finger point from the city to the county the city takes in these subdivisions but then in order to get there you gotta drive on this county road so it's a challenge but i think as we continue to work with these inter-local agreements it's gonna it's gonna continue to make things a little bit easier to be fixed but we did get that striped up at armstrong and i appreciate the road department doing that i put that on social media and i think we had on just one one one social media page had 120 some likes and loves and everything else i did find out some other areas real quick in the county that need fix but i'll work on those on the side but uh you know it's a start we did about a mile of striping uh the white lines on the exterior yellow lines double yellow lines in the middle to help people see some of the drop-offs in area and then we kind of stopped the work at a sharp curve back there where the road narrows down a little bit so the concern was to put the white lines on there the road might be a little too narrow and and cause additional problems but we'll look at those areas maybe down the road and try to get that you know maybe on the list to get widened because of all the development but for right now jerry thank you and thanks to the royal department for the striping on armstrong okay thank you son under new business actions requested on

resolution 22.07 arthritis involved in fiscal court to bear any cost overruns regarding the brohill area of water main extension and pump station [Applause] there's a resolution in the packet to for the department of local government to use the c gdb funds first and uh we've also added to to change the direction of this project it should have been going over six seven months ago but thanks to the fiscal court adding 1.2 million to the project instead of being a four inch line to the top of the hill it's going to be a six inch with fire hydrants to where and this is part of our commitment to only five major water projects in willa county to get water to residents who no longer who do not have access to drinking water in this community to where that they don't have to hold water use systems or whatever but at least they'll have that opportunity to have drinking water and i think gary bored has signed up to ask a question about it and i'd like to take that right now if you don't mind gary instead of wait until the end fair
