Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met in person on May 18, 2021 and approved a full slate of routine and substantive items, with every recorded vote carrying.

The court hired several EMS staff: three full-time paramedics at $25 an hour, one full-time EMT, and three part-time paramedics. It also approved immediate pay for clean-up day workers at $30 an hour and moved a temporary animal control worker to part-time.

The court approved a new online permitting software (iWorks) for planning and zoning, solid waste and code enforcement. The setup fee is $16,000 and the annual fee is $25,000. The old system is more than 20 years old and no longer supported. It also approved the updated agreement with the Bullitt County Sanitation District (Resolution 2105), and passed budget amendment number six.

The biggest item was paying off county debt. The court authorized a check of no more than $3.575 million to pay off the dispatch/EMS bond debt, which is expected to save over $100,000 and free up about $535,000 a year. It also approved a standing order to pay off the remaining three debts: the detention center, the courthouse and energy savings. The sheriff's surplus list was approved as well.

During public comment a resident questioned the insurance premium surcharge, and a speaker raised milling over-built roads. Court members then reflected on the debt payoff and EMS progress before adjourning.
