Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of January 19, 2021
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 01.19.2021
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on January 19, 2021. It opened with routine business: the treasurer's transfer report, bills, treasurer's report and the January 5 minutes were all approved. The court also read a proclamation honoring the county school board members for School Board Recognition Month.
On zoning, the court voted to follow the joint planning commission's recommendation and deny a rezoning request from R1 residential to B1 highway business at 4223 Brooksville Road, so the property stays residential.
The court passed budget amendment number four, which recognizes about $1.79 million in unbudgeted receipts across several funds. It also gave first reading to amendment number five, which covers about $941,870 in federal grant funds. No action was requested on amendment five.
The court approved hiring six paramedics and EMTs for the EMS service, and a temporary full-time worker for the animal shelter at $12.75 an hour to cover a leave.
Perry from Mark 12 Ministries spoke about homelessness in the county. He described the winter shelter in army tents, asked how to apply for county funds, and urged the county to make a full-time shelter a priority. Magistrates expressed support but raised concerns about location and accountability. They discussed using COVID relief money and getting the local groups to work together. The judge also discussed vaccine distribution and the county's population. The meeting adjourned.
