Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of June 4, 2024
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 06.04.2024
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on June 4, 2024. It approved the May 21 minutes, the treasurer's transfer report and all bills. EMS staff were recognized for helping save a three-month-old child in cardiac arrest in Lebanon Junction.
The court held first reading and public hearing on a rezoning request from Kenneth Shell for about 62 acres on KY 44, from R1A/stream reserve to B1 highway business, for a paintball facility. The planning commission recommended approval with restrictions. Many residents and a former state representative spoke against it, citing traffic, safety, water runoff, noise, wildlife and fear of later commercial uses. The court did not vote; second reading is set for June 18.
A second rezoning (a 3-acre parcel on Beech Grove Road from agricultural to R1 so it can be split into two lots) had first reading with no opposition. The court also gave first reading to an energy project assessment district (EPAD) ordinance, added late to the agenda, which lets property owners finance energy projects through assessments.
The court passed the revised animal control ordinance on second reading. It approved a $1-a-year, 20-year lease of the Belmont Furnace property in Lebanon Junction for a historical site, and renewed interlocal road agreements with seven of the eight cities. The meeting ended with a vote to go into closed session on personnel.
