Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of July 16, 2024
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 07.16.2024
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met July 16, 2024 and approved routine business first: the July 2 minutes, the treasurer's transfer report, all bills, and the closing treasurer's report for the 2023-24 fiscal year. All of these passed.
Most of the meeting was monthly updates from department heads and staff. Topics included road funding and KIPA projects, animal control, maintenance, E911, EMS, emergency management, the judicial center, HR, planning and code enforcement, the road department, solid waste and recycling, the treasurer's office, and parks. The court also approved a new full-time paramedic hire at $27 an hour.
On zoning, the court voted 4-1 (Judge Summers opposed) to follow the planning commission and deny two requests to rezone land on Highway 44 East from R1 residential to B1 highway business (ordinances 24-17 and 24-18). The judge argued Highway 44 is becoming a commercial corridor.
The court approved a resolution accepting $185,000 from the state to resurface Woodsdale Road. It also approved buying two ADA-compliant voting machines and a HAVA resolution for up to $8,300 in grant money for voter privacy booths. Jerry Bramer was reappointed to the Board of Adjustments through June 30, 2028.
On the Maryville pool, magistrates were frustrated at the lack of progress. The court voted to seek bids for a new water line to get the bathrooms working, without touching the pool deck. The court then went into closed session to discuss litigation.
