Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of August 6, 2024
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 08.06.2024
Summary
The Bullet (Bullitt) County Fiscal Court met August 6, 2024. Routine business passed first: treasurer's transfer report, bills and the July 16 minutes.
During public comment, residents raised concerns about unregulated delta 9 products and about dump trucks on Brooks Hill. Speakers said the trucks run a commercial dumping operation on agriculturally zoned land. They cited safety, noise, road damage and environmental risks. Officials said the road is a state highway, so the county cannot control the trucks directly. Fire Chief Kevin Molton presented a statewide proposal to raise the Chapter 75 fire tax by two cents per year for five years, up to 10 cents more. The court took no action.
The court held first readings of two rezonings (R-1 to conservation) and approved a bushwacker tractor for $163,300 from Agri-Revolution, with a check on delivery. It chose Magic salt at $98.75 per ton. It passed a Vision Zero resolution for the Safe Streets for All grant. It made appointments to the planning commission and the southeast fire district, surplused sheriff's department shirts, and approved three EMS promotions.
Medical cannabis will go on the November ballot by resolution 24-7. If the court had done nothing, dispensaries would have been allowed automatically.
A motion on Leighanna Lane, a private subdivision road, passed 3-2. The county will supply labor and equipment, and residents will pay for materials, so the road can be brought up to standard and then accepted into the county system. The court also approved an interlocal road agreement with Hunters Hollow and voted to widen the entrance to Bogard and W. for school traffic.
