Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of February 4, 2025
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 02.04.2024
Summary
The Fiscal Court approved routine business first, including the prior meeting's minutes, the treasurer's transfer report and the bills. It also approved updates to the detention center's 2025 policy manual. The main change limits restraints on pregnant inmates to front handcuffs unless more is needed for safety.
Emergency management staff reviewed the January winter storm. Ice and snow came in below forecast totals, EMS call volume stayed manageable, and the county expects to exceed its damage threshold for FEMA public assistance once a federal disaster declaration is signed. Officials encouraged residents to sign up for Smart 911, especially people who depend on electrically powered medical devices.
Four zoning ordinances (255-258) had first readings and public hearings, with second readings set for Feb. 18. A nearby resident spoke against ordinance 257, which would change 250 Armstrong Lane from R2 to B1 highway business. She cited traffic, drainage and the six neighborhoods nearby. No one spoke against the other three.
The court approved a cost-of-living increase for magistrates and a quote of about $22,450 for bullet-resistant glass in the county attorney's office. It also approved several EMS hires and promotions, and the purchase of two radar speed trailers for $28,000 to address speeding in subdivisions. The trailers can also display road-closure messages.
The judge reminded residents that the Yano Range will begin operating in March with about 200 days of use planned in 2025. The meeting then adjourned.
