Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on March 16, 2021, opening with an invocation by Vietnam veteran Larry Coy and a recognition of Vietnam veterans ahead of National Vietnam War Veterans Day on March 29.

Routine business passed: the treasurer's transfer report, all bills, the treasurer's report, and the March 2 minutes. The minutes were clarified so new employees begin accruing and can use sick and vacation time right away after hire. The handbook change is expected back on the April 6 agenda.

The court gave second reading and approval to a zoning change from agricultural to R1 residential for about 10 acres on Myer Drive. It also held first readings of an ordinance adding a $200 small farm winery license fee to the alcohol license ordinance and of the Highway 245 tourism overlay district ordinance. Both come back for second reading on April 6.

The court approved hires for EMS and the animal shelter, appointed a firefighter representative to a fire district board, a planning and zoning board member and a water advisory board member, and approved a sheriff's office surplus list. It also authorized the judge to sign closing documents for the sale of the county property at 1010 Highway 44 East.

During public comment a resident asked when in-person court would resume and about growth, industry and recreation in the county. The judge said court would resume when the circuit court building reopens to the public, and magistrates discussed limits on county control over city annexation. The meeting then adjourned.

  • 15:14

to that where it says that a person can accrue it's actually vacation time or sick time at the end of each month of employment previously they had already they were accruing it they just couldn't use it within the first six months uh and my question reason for the clarification is because um also um those that start uh in the way that we had done it those that start from the first through the 15th of the month they would accrue at the end of that month but anyone that was hired in from the 16th through the end of the month they would accrue the next month um is that the way you all still want to do it yes that that's the way that uh we we discussed treasure sharp and we want folks to be able to use their uh sick time when it's available or vacation time at the time okay yeah i just and the way it stated in the minutes is that they would accrue personal and sick time at the end of each month of employment it didn't say anything about use and i knew that that's what you wanted to step to state absolutely okay thank you judge
