Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of August 2, 2022
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 08 02 2022
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on August 2, 2022. It approved the bills and the July 19 minutes, and honored departing community servants. Sheriff Walt introduced Alex Payne as the new chief deputy.
The court held first readings and public hearings on four zoning changes: Jones property at 250 Phelps Lane (agricultural to R3), Burke at 7667 Cedar Grove Road (to R1), Miller at 355 Eddington Lane (agricultural to conservation), and two Core5/Hatfield parcels on Claremont Road (to light industrial). Core5 described landscaping buffers, a berm, and stormwater detention. One resident spoke against more warehouses, and another resident, during public comment, asked for stronger rules for industrial development. Second readings are set for August 16. A first reading on an ordinance amending Sunday alcohol sales for small farm wineries was also held.
The court approved road department equipment purchases: a Caterpillar compact excavator, a Kaufman equipment trailer, and a new Vermeer chipper with a winch. It also approved surplusing sheriff's office items, an interlocal agreement with Mount Washington for road work, and a resolution joining the BlueGrass and Central Kentucky unified police protection system (BACKUPS) so deputies can act across county lines in felony investigations. New EMS hires and a planning technician were approved.
In comments, officials discussed the delayed Maryville pool rebuild (about $740,000 bid, likely reopening in two years), fiber internet through Windstream still tied up, and a relief trailer drive for eastern Kentucky flood victims, plus the CASA fundraiser on August 13.
