Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met May 20, 2025. It approved routine items (minutes, treasurer's transfer report, bills, treasurer's report) and heard a Windstream/Kinetic presentation on moving six county locations from Spectrum to Kinetic fiber, which was presented as saving money and raising speeds. No vote on the internet switch appears in the transcript.

The court approved a contract with BH Construction for the walking bridge at the Belmont iron furnace, approved two waste grants (hazardous waste and tar amnesty), and made several board appointments, including Brian Vogle to a fire district and two new library board trustees.

Magistrates approved a resolution creating a five-member Recreation Advisory Board and appointed Sam Sadderly as Judge Summers' representative to a four-year term.

The court discussed state law allowing street legal special purpose vehicles (UTVs and side-by-sides). A motion directed the county attorney to draft an ordinance for the next meeting. Cities would have to adopt their own ordinances separately, and the sheriff urged strong public education and enforcement.

The court also surplused a high-mileage 2017 EMS ambulance for online sale, recognized nine EMTs who passed advanced EMT training, and approved accepting bids for gutters on the front of the courthouse annex building before adjourning.

I'm sorry. Charlotte Good morning. Good morning.

Yeah. I just asked him a couple things to help everybody. I told him she said she's on board. I said I'm on board. I said, but I was just asking them like I told them I wanted to show everybody in court like what they currently got now and what they're going to need because they kind of gave us some numbers and stuff and then what they're asking for specifically what they can do with the money and then My main thing was I wanted to make sure Justin was in charge of all this, you know, because I didn't want him to fight over the money and, you know, once we know Justin's in charge of it, it's actually a county official. I don't know how deep we're getting into that offer. I didn't know. Are we getting very deep in that or just kind of talking about it a little bit? We can

  • 4:52

talk about it. We don't have to vote on it today. questions or whatever. Yeah. See, they're leaving it up to each individual county. Yeah. So, if we don't do it, Nelson does it. You know, you're in one and you come through. I don't have a problem with it, but there's like she said right now this law had passed. Is it is it passed? Oh, yeah. It's passed. She said they told her I think county, right? But I was wonderful. Well, good good morning and welcome to the Bull County Fiscal

son's name we pray. Amen. Amen. Could we stand just for another second? Just take another 10-minute moment of silence for those in southern Kentucky, especially London in that area. Just maybe about 10 seconds. Okay. Thank you. With EMS yesterday, and myself, and you know, we just talked briefly just how lucky we were and how we were spared in this area when you look and see some of the devastation across the state. So, I just want to take that moment because we really have been been lucky here. Right. Jeremy, thank you. And I just happened to pay him a visit down there Saturday in both and Wayne County both they had no part and they still have no part as we speak today. Okay. I'll introduce myself while I can get set up. My name is Patrick Nichson. I'm Windstream Sport Kinetics primary business consultant for the region from Bullet County, Harden County all the way down to Scottsville. Um my presentation today is pretty much a phase two of what we did about a year ago when it came to

  • 11:04

the phone service switching over from Spectrum to Kinetics phones. Now phase two is going to be switching over from Spectrum's internet to kinetics fiber. So Candy if you will I guess you can go to the next one. So this is going to be six locations phased over. So the first one would be the fiscal court building. this one, the road department, bullet county detention center, planning and zoning, bullet county EMS, and then the health department. These are all locations currently on Spectrum Fiber that we would hope if get an approval that we would be able to transition over to kinetic fiber. You can go there next week. So currently with spectrum, you have six locations. It is called Ethernet, Elan, pointtooint. The service is a little bit different than what we would be offering. Pointtooint is makes this fiscal court a central location for the fiber. If something was to happen for the fiber here, it would cut off all other five locations. So what we would we're proposing is to run six individual fibers or six individual locations creating some redundancy in the sense that if fiber was to go out at one location, not everybody is out of fiber at the others. Now your monthly service with uh Spectrum currently before tax, this is just services is
