Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of July 5, 2023
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 07.05.2023
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on July 5, 2023 and approved the bills, the minutes of the June 20 regular meeting and the June 28 special meeting (which covered the budget and payment of a hospital bill), and the county's new magisterial district map.
County Clerk Kevin Mooney presented the reapportionment committee's work. Two precincts changed districts, one from the second district to the third and one from the first to the fourth. The court voted to pay the three committee members $200 per meeting, $1,800 in total, and approved the new map. The map takes effect with the next election cycle.
The court held first readings and public hearings on four rezoning ordinances: an alpaca farm on Coral Ridge Road (R1 to Ag), two Chester Bischoff requests, and a small lot-line adjustment on Cundiff Hollow Road. Mr. Bischoff asked to withdraw his light-industrial request. The court wanted more time and will take up the withdrawal at the next meeting. Second readings are scheduled for July 18.
The court voted to hire Barry Jones as chief building inspector at $95,000 a year, effective July 17, 2023. The state has been collecting inspection revenue because the county lacks a level-three inspector, and officials said the salary should pay for itself. The budget would be amended later in the year if needed.
The court also reappointed Delbert Martin to the Nichols fire district board through June 30, 2026, and accepted surplus items from the sheriff's office. The judge closed with an update on Fort Knox's night-time military exercises (Operation Dagger), and the court then adjourned.
