Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of July 7, 2026
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 07.07.2026
Summary
The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on July 7, 2026, and opened with thanks to Pastor Nick and Impact Church for helping flood victims. The church has been distributing supplies at the Shepherdsville gym after the flooding the previous weekend.
The court approved routine business: the June 16 and June 23 minutes, the treasurer's transfer report, and all bills. It paid the Board of Assessment Appeals, with the state reimbursing half. It accepted a salt bid through the Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo) and approved KACo workers' compensation and All Lines liability renewals.
On appointments, the court approved Mr. Rice for the Mount Washington Fire District board, with one abstention, after the fire board chairman urged the appointment. It also appointed Steve Jesse to the Zoneton fire board. Two new EMS personnel actions were approved.
The court approved a contract with Bullitt County Public Schools to take over the closing Nichols Elementary for $1 a year. It could serve as a community center and a staging site for the Red Cross. Two rezonings (ordinances 2616 and 2617) and a temporary 12-month moratorium on data center applications (ordinance 2618) had first readings, with second readings set for July 21. A date for the auction of the surplus property at 295 North Buckman Street is still being set.
Members praised the road department, emergency management, 911 and sheriff's staff for flood response. Flood debris dumpsters remain through July 9. After an executive session on property acquisition, the court approved the first amendment to a real estate purchase and sales agreement with an undisclosed entity, then adjourned.

No problem. — Members of fiscal court, Judge Summers, my name is Casey Clark and I currently serve as the chairman of the Mount Washington Fire District Board. I'm here this morning regarding the appointment for the next fiscal court appointed trustee to our fire board, Mr. Mike Christ. Our board recommended my Christ for this appointment after discussion and consideration. That recommendation was not made lightly. The fire board understands the importance of these appointments and the responsibility that comes with serving the res the residents of our district. We recommended Mr. Rice because he's been continuously involved in our community. He has shown willingness to

serve. He owns and operates a successful business with a substantial budget. Uh he knows how to balance said budget, which to me is one of the most important things when it comes to um being appointed to our fire protection district board. Um he owns this business within the boundaries of the Mount Washington Fire Protection District as well as lives within the boundaries of the district as well. We believe those qualities will make him a strong asset to our board and to the taxpayers and residents we serve. I also want to make it clear that the board stands behind our recommendation uh for Mr. Rice. Uh we believe he's a great fit for this position. I'd also like to mention that I've reached out by email regarding this matter more than once. I did receive response from Mr. Bleman uh and I appreciate him taking the time to respond. I've not heard back from any of the other members, so I felt it was important to be here today in person to answer any questions that uh you guys have for me or the board. If there are any questions or concerns about Mr. Wright, our recommendation or the operations of Mount Washington Fire Protection District, I'll be more than happy to answer them now or via email, however you want to reach out, phone.
- 8:25
Um, our board wants to have a good working relationship with fiscal court and we want to make sure the district continues moving in the right direction and I appreciate your time this morning. That's all I have right now. Does anybody have any questions for me? — I'd just like to add to that. Uh, Mr. Clark, first of all, I appreciate you sending the email and I do apologize for not responding back. The email did clarify a lot of things for me and so I'm ready to go forward. whatever is important that's — thanks for coming today and you know and obviously making it known that you all you know that's a recommendation of — you don't take that lightly as well — absolutely and if there's anything you know if you have any questions about not necessarily this issue but anything just feel free to reach out if it has anything to do with the fire department I'm always available so Casey, speaking on on behalf of the judge's office and and the court, we've always had a good working relationship. Great. What I'm going to say first responders, especially through the MA and what uh
