Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on July 19, 2022. It handled routine business first: approving the bills, the treasurer's report and the July 5 minutes. All three were approved.

The court gave second reading to three zoning changes. Ordinance 2210 (rezoning agricultural land to R-1 single-family residential on Ridge Road), 2211 (Clifford and Juanita Shepherd, Mount Eden Road, agricultural to R-1) and 2212 (Nell Hall, trustee, Hogs Lane, stream reserve to R-1) all followed the planning commission's recommendations. Roll-call votes were taken on each.

The court approved participation in the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All grant, a regional safety action plan effort through KIPDA. The plan is estimated at $750,000, with a 20% local match. Bullitt County's share would be roughly $12,000 to $20,000, and the court noted it should not exceed about $20,000. Commitments are due to the grant program by August 1 (verbal) and August 15 (written).

The court also approved hiring new EMS employees, including two graduates of last year's class, and hiring a part-time animal care attendant at $15 an hour. It approved buying two new dump beds, at about $26,312 each, to refit the road department's 2008 Sterling trucks, because new trucks are about two years out. It appointed Brent Wheeler to the joint planning commission. During public comment, a resident asked about hauling weight limits on Mount Eden Road near Fort Knox. Officials said they would talk to Fort Knox and have the road department inspect the road. The court then moved into executive session to discuss land.
