Bullitt County Fiscal Court
Meeting of March 3, 2026
Bullitt County Fiscal Court 03.03.2026
Summary
The Fiscal Court met on March 3, 2026. It approved the February 17 minutes, the treasurer's transfer report, and the bills, each by unanimous roll call.
Most of the night went to Highway 44. Residents near Watergate Road described repeated crashes, drop-offs at the road edge, erosion and flooding near the new paintball facility, and unanswered calls to the state. The sheriff said dispatch records show 95 reported wrecks within a quarter mile of Watergate since January 2023. Officials said the county has no authority over state roads. The court voted to recommend that the state lower the speed limit from 55 to 45 mph from the Big Clifty area to Sun View, and to ask for shoulder improvements. Magistrates also discussed requiring developers to complete state-required turn lanes before construction begins, which could be written into the planning and zoning regulations now under revision.
A hall paving representative questioned how the county's asphalt bid was awarded, saying his company was lower on price but lost over plant distance that was not in the advertised bid. Magistrates said location and other factors were weighed. A representative from 3Plus1 presented two ways to earn more interest on county cash, insured cash sweeps and a Treasury money market fund. Magistrates leaned toward the first option and made no decision.
The court pinned the county's volunteer chaplains and approved hiring two paramedics. It gave first reading to a zoning change on Armstrong Lane and to budget amendment 2517. Judge Summers said a resolution supporting House Bill 557, on jail funding, will come at the next meeting.
