Summary

The Bullitt County Fiscal Court met on June 21, 2022. It opened with a prayer for firefighters and others who have been hurt, the Pledge of Allegiance and a roll call.

The court approved the bills, the financial reports through May 31 and the minutes of the June 7 meeting. It gave second reading to a zoning ordinance changing about 53 acres at 200 Cromwell Lane from agriculture to R1 residential. The captions show the vote on it, but the motion and the count are garbled.

The court reappointed Sean Perkins to the Bridgeway Memorial board of trustees. It also approved an allowance for the Board of Assessment Appeals, a personnel action for Jacob Perry, and renewal of a credit card machine contract for zoning, code enforcement and animal control.

A resident questioned the large increase in magistrate and elected official pay. Court members said pay had not been raised in over 40 years and that the increase applies only to officials elected later. They said it follows Kentucky Association of Counties recommendations and that taxes will not go up. The county judge-executive also said a surcharge is being rescinded, so taxes should drop after July.

Members closed with comments on the county fair, hot weather and an American Legion event on June 25. A special meeting is set for June 29 at 9:30 am for a second reading of a project item.
