Daviess County Fiscal Court
Meeting of March 22, 2022
Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting March 22, 2022
Summary
The Daviess County Fiscal Court opened with a public hearing on closing out the CDBG-CV grant for the Owensboro Regional Recovery Center. The grant paid for pandemic-related costs such as masks, hand sanitizer and continued client services. No public questions were raised.
The court recognized the Owensboro Rampage high school hockey team, three-time reigning Kentucky state champions, who were heading to the national championships in Dallas. Coach Jason Link was also honored as coach of the year. The judge announced the courthouse will reopen to the public at the April 11 meeting.
The court approved the minutes, claims, and a subdivision streetlight district for Woodland Ridge Unit 9. It also approved a $1 million CDBG-CV contract for a 38-bed domestic violence shelter (Oasis), with GRAD administering the funds. Further GRAD contracts covered the recovery center grant and a generator grant for emergency shelters. Because these are grant funds, taxpayers do not pay for the administration.
The court rejected the sole bid for a fertilizer spreader at the landfill, which will be rebid in late April or May. It awarded bids for a mailing system ($19,955, Southern Business Machines) and a dozer undercarriage replacement ($44,439.82, EMCO). Several board reappointments and appointments were approved, including parks, cemetery, water district, and drug-free steering committee seats.
A first reading of the county road system ordinance was held with no vote, covering ten changes including one new road in a subdivision. No public comments were made, and the meeting adjourned.
