Daviess County Fiscal Court
Meeting of January 22, 2026
Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting, Thursday, January 22, 2026
Summary
The Daviess County Fiscal Court met on January 22, 2026, and presented checks from the Christmas at Panther Creek event. Five local organizations received $2,478 each: Mosleyville Fire Department, CASA of the Ohio Valley, Joe Ford Nature Center, St. Joseph Peace Mission and the Owensboro Catholic High Emerald Players. About 4,956 vehicles and roughly 15,000 people attended the event.
The court's largest decision was to end its contract with Ricky Moore Trucking for operating the City of Henderson transfer station, effective June 30, 2026. The county will run the operation itself starting July 1 with its own equipment and staff. Henderson's payments cover all costs, and the initial outlay of more than $2 million comes from solid waste reserves. Commissioner Marksberry opposed it, arguing that it puts the county in competition with the private sector, and it passed 3-1.
The court then approved a series of equipment purchases for that operation. These were tractors, walking floor trailers, a backhoe loader, a front end loader, a wheeled excavator, a roll-off truck and a pickup truck. Each passed with no opposition recorded.
The court also approved landfill expansion engineering with Weaver Consultants Group, a variance application for the public safety facility access points, HVAC maintenance for the judicial center, and fire hydrant testing agreements. It approved the ambulance block grant application, a loan amendment with Hollison LLC, and new servers. It approved routine items as well: minutes, claims, a promotion, a hire and a resignation.
The next fiscal court meeting is Tuesday, February 10 at 12 noon. Commissioners urged residents to stay safe during the coming winter storm.

I'll go ahead and call this meeting to order. This is Davis County Fiscal Court meeting. Today is January 22, 2026. Uh, Commissioner Condra, if you would open us with a prayer in the class, please join me silent meditation or a prayer if you so desire for this for this evening as we uh begin to do the work of the people, God's people. Dear Lord, we thank you for our blessings today. We thank you for the blessing of a celebration we had recently for Martin Luther King where yes, he did have a dream. But more than anything, we wish to thank you for the blessings of freedom, of love, and of peace through those actions of what he professed, of what he preached, that they are amplified through your son. We ask you to bless those that are about to uh be in a winter storm event that is going to touch everyone in this community. We hope and pray with the temperatures that we're about to see, the snow we're about to see, that everyone stays warm, that they have

Bless our first responders each and every day. We have some here tonight that not only them but their families need to be touched also that we know that whenever that call comes they run to those events while we may turn away. I ask all this in your son's name and watch over all of us on the day as we do the people's work your people's work. Amen. And now the pledge.
