Meeting of October 28, 2021
Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting October 28, 2021
Summary
The Daviess County Fiscal Court met on October 28, 2021. The court proclaimed November 2021 as Diabetes Awareness Month, with statistics on diabetes in Kentucky read into the record.
The court approved the October 14 minutes and all claims. It then awarded five bids: turnout gear for the fire department (about $16,705), the spay/neuter clinic addition at the animal shelter ($579,118), a new landfill excavator ($319,890), a new landfill fuel truck ($142,485), and up to 71 ballistic vests for the detention center, covered by LEPP funding. Three road department hires were approved, all as replacements, and the second reading of a budget amendment for a $75,000 parks grant passed.
In commissioner comments, the judge said a recent county auction brought in about $78,000 against an expected $35,000. He said a silo-busting grant application has been received and will likely be discussed at the next meeting. He suggested reopening the courthouse to the press and to appointment-only visitors if COVID cases drop below 25 per 100,000. A $200,000 water and wastewater utilities grant will begin taking applications on November 1. The court also remembered longtime resident John William Lanham.
The court then went into closed session to discuss possible real property acquisition or sale, with no action to be taken afterward.
