Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting September 1, 2022
Summary
The Daviess County Fiscal Court met September 1, 2022. It opened by proclaiming the day Elizabeth Mosley Zimmerman Day for her 100th birthday and received the 2022 tax rates for the library and extension districts. The library's real property rate fell from 6.2 to 6.0 cents per $100, and the extension rate was unchanged.
The court approved minutes and claims, then a rural secondary agreement moving a bridge replacement from Ladam Bridge Road to Indian Hill Road. It also approved a $27,000 or $25,000 (depending on option) engineering contract with AEI for the Indian Hill Road bridge design.
For Yellow Creek Park, the court approved concept design contracts for the ball fields (not to exceed $3,600) and the amphitheater (not to exceed $10,000). It also approved a hold harmless agreement so a certified diver can retrieve lost discs from the lake at no cost to the county.
The court awarded four bids: Mosleyville fire station roof ($44,735), Kirtley Annex exterior repair ($49,800), a portable generator and trailer ($70,553, mostly grant funded) and PVC landfill pipe ($117,995). It rejected the pavement maintenance bid, which came in over budget, and will rebid a smaller scope. Two hires and two board reappointments were approved.
The judge announced a first reading and hearing on the Greenbrier subdivision rezoning appeal on September 15, with a decision expected in early October. He also reminded candidates about campaign sign placement.
