Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting February 4, 2025
Summary
The Daviess County Fiscal Court met on February 4, 2025. It opened with a presentation from the new executive director of the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, then worked through a long consent-style agenda, with votes that appear to have passed.
The court committed a $40,000 local match for a $200,000 federal feasibility study of a new I-165 interchange, and approved an application to the state's grant program that could reimburse that match. Commissioner Marksberry said she voted no on the study. The court also approved a utility easement for Owensboro RNG at the West Daviess County landfill.
The court approved annual training incentive payments for a commissioner and the judge executive, and approved bids and purchases. These included roadside litter collection three times a year, painting at Horse Fork Creek Park, a new fire engine for Sorgho Volunteer Fire Department, a fleet fuel contract, a commercial mower, and more fire hydrant work. A member of the public questioned the mower's price. Other approvals covered a bridge redesign on Ward Road, a parking-lot agreement for veterans' transport at the detention center, and a hire and a resignation.
In public comment, a food warehouse representative asked the court to consider matching city funds for a food storage facility. A T-ball founder invited former players to a Kentucky Wesleyan game. The MPO director explained that state-planned R-cut intersections at US 60 and Hwy boulevard and Wrights Landing Road are due for completion this year after recent fatal crashes. A campground owner objected to a proposed solar farm, which will go before the Board of Adjustments.
Commissioners noted the agency funding application deadline of March 7, and the meeting then adjourned.
