Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting June 3, 2021
Summary
The Daviess County Fiscal Court opened its June 3, 2021 meeting by honoring Owensboro High School graduate Keisha Harrington, who is headed to Harvard this fall. The court also heard that the state audit of the county's books came back clean. A coverage disagreement over pandemic relief expenses was resolved without the county returning any money.
The court approved the minutes, all claims, and a roughly $1.18 million transfer from the general fund to the jail fund. It also approved the year-end budget transfers, which move money between accounts without increasing the total budget. Two budget amendments recorded unbudgeted revenue, including CARES and ARPA funds and a community development block grant for COVID recovery.
The court approved the hazard mitigation plan update, the contract with the school board for nonpublic student transportation, and the health department agreement for employee vaccines and TB assessments. It also changed the administrative code to let fire employees take comp time for training and to reimburse up to 80 percent of paramedic training costs, with a payback if the employee leaves early.
The court made appointments to the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Economic Development Advisory Board, and the Drainage Commission. The next meeting moves to June 15, with an extra meeting June 30 at noon for budget transfers. The judge explained how hotel room tax money is spent and said the courtroom will reopen to limited visitors at the end of June.
