Daviess County Fiscal Court Meeting May 22, 2024
Summary
The Daviess County Fiscal Court held its second May 2024 meeting with a full consent-style agenda, and every item appeared to pass by voice vote. Commissioner Conder joined by Zoom.
The court approved the 2024-2025 road resurfacing list of about 18.67 miles across the east, central and west districts, plus the annual transfer of $60,800 from the solid waste operating fund to the landfill closure fund. It also accepted the sheriff's 2023 tax settlements.
Several state agreements were approved: roadside inmate work crews, substance abuse treatment programs and program facilitator funding for the detention center, and a $2,000 USGS river gauge cost share. Two Kentucky Pride grants, one for household hazardous waste (Talks Away Day, $28,000) and one for a composting loader, were accepted. The court also approved a lease for space at the WKU facility during the courthouse renovation at $2,712 per month, only for months occupied. A contract for busing nonpublic students and a new Henderson transfer station hauling contract with Ricky Moore Trucking were approved, the latter with new tarp-checking and complaint-sticker requirements.
The court rejected all bids for a St. Joseph fire engine because delivery dates were unacceptable, and new bids were issued. It declared a 1997 International fire engine surplus and transferred it to the City of Scottsville for $40,000. It accepted a firefighter's resignation, hired four seasonal park attendants and reappointed Greg Floyd to the CVB board.
In closing comments, officials announced the free tire collection event, spray parks opening early, Memorial Day events, and thanked Cash for Trash participants.
