Grayson County Fiscal Court Meeting 09.21.2023 · Watch on YouTube ↗
Summary
Grayson County Fiscal Court – September 21, 2023
The court moved through a lengthy consent-style agenda, approving routine financial items including the minutes from the previous meeting, payment of bills, treasurer's and jailer's budget transfers and monthly settlements, and an additional late bill from the jail (J&J Tire, totaling about $1,934.64). Annual financial reports for the Grayson County Conservation District, Cane Creek Watershed, and Short Creek Conservation District were all accepted without discussion, as was the 2023-2024 flex fund agreement and resolution.
A significant item involved correcting the May 18, 2023 meeting minutes and formally ordering the sale of the former Grayson County Sheriff's Office at 44 Public Square to Southern Builders of Kentucky, the high bidder at public auction, for $370,700. The correction clarified that selling the surplus property was in the public interest to recoup funds for reinvestment in the sheriff's office's new location.
The court also approved designating Rocky Hill Estates Road, Lake Lane, and Sims Drive in the Nolan Lake Estates subdivision as county roadways eligible for golf cart use, contingent on carts being registered and certified. Magistrates discussed enforcement of golf cart rules, noting the sheriff's office has issued several citations for uncertified carts and that the permitting process was being streamlined so residents no longer have to travel between offices. They also discussed correcting some roads with incorrect speed limit signage that had not been properly voted on by the court.
In new business, the jailer requested permission to advertise for bids on an electronic medical records system after receiving only one vendor quote, which exceeded the county's spending threshold; the court approved advertising for bids.
The court went into executive session to discuss potential litigation with County Attorney Jeremy; upon returning, it was noted that no action was necessary at this time. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.

- 5:25
submitting both the minute change you might need to vote on the other uh you might as well vote on that too all right vote on both of them uh correct in the minutes uh for uh I'm gonna go ahead and read this Jeremy but okay I Was Here by correction of more accurate reflect of the details of the discussion of advertised public auction of the former Sheriff's Office located at 44 Public Square as described in the deed and record Grayson County Clerk's Office Depot 349 307 the minutes from May 18th recorded in Fiscal Court order book www.151 are hereby corrected to reflect that the intended use of the real property was when acquired was to house the Sheriff's Office and it is in the public interest to sell the Surplus property to recoup the funds invest in a gain profit of uh reinvestment due to relocation of Sheriff's Office to a new up-and-dated location and need a motion to go ahead and update the minutes for that motion by being saved by Brian all in favor um thank you
- 6:51
stuff like that please make sure Mr Dave vicker gets that next is the grace County Physical courts hereby ordered that the former Grayson County Sheriff's Office and lot located at 44 Public Square Leitchfield Kentucky as describing Depot 349 page 307 number 307 records is Grayson County Clerk shall be sold to Southern Builders of Kentucky LLP as high bidder at the public auction for the amount of 370 700 dollars be sure Mr Victory gets out as well uh all right we're skipping number 13 for today we've got a little bit more to look into that except Rocky Hill Estates Road Lake Lane Sims Drive as designated County roadways for the golf cart usage in Nolan Lake estate subdivision which I think then was actually looked over in the last time that we voted on these I
- 8:05
just need a motion to accept I think most motion by mail second second by Brian all in favor all right next we have other new business no I the only thing I have with just just because make sure everybody knows just because we approve Rocky Hill Estates road is a uh for the use of golf carts the golf carts still have to be registered to have to be certified to meet the criteria so it is a lot of people think because when they're when that is enacted in that subdivision or whatever it's a free-for-all and it's not that case that's not the case we're still getting a lot of calls and compliance you also wrote a lot of citations I guess we have because there has been an influx of people into this office yeah to get stuff so we've written ever at every location we've written several several citations and where they've been approved for the ones that have not been golf carts have not been certified did they streamline that a little bit better are we doing that stuff now instead of them going to Euro's office and coming down here and yeah I mean it can always be better I think we just started because the permits are here you know we've had over a hundred people well I told Marian and them I said why I
- 9:19
said why are we even sending them up to the county attorney's office to get a pamphlet to come down here why don't we just hand out the pamphlet you know that's sort of silly I thought so that's why I told them I I don't know if I got to you or not Stacy did they give them what's that yeah so I I said they just need to come here and get the stuff and then we can turn it into you after it's all done you know if that's what we have to do I don't really need it because they're they're inspecting it they just need to apply get inspected get their sticker yeah so it's really these two I was just trying to save everybody a tree you know it's it's seemed a little chaotic people was coming up there and then coming down here and then sending them to the Sheriff's Office so that's why I told them I said why are we even doing that anyway so let's just have all the pamphlets and stuff here and make it a little bit you know we're always less problems we can always answer anything because sometimes it gets a little complex if someone's not you know doing multiple Road subdivisions which need yeah so we can help them with whatever they need and I've got a couple sitting on my desk now that you know people have some questions about so we'll always be there
