name is V Warren I'm from the Department transportation branch manager for construction and maintenance with us today we got Brad bottoms he's our chief District engineer James beachum he's a section engineer for racing bre M counties we've got Mark Stone he's our super two foron County for now he reti on us and we've got uh Mr Decker he's our our new super one with us tonight as well gotcha so to begin with I'd like to explain how our rural secretary program is funded it's funded by 22.2% of the motor fuels tax receipts These funds are allocated to all 120 counties based on a fivepoint formula and that formula is based on 1/5 equally among all counties 1 based on the rural population 1/5 based on the road miles and two fifths based on the land area and once that money is allocated to a county it cannot be transferred to another County so our program this year our first priority is is always going to be our routine maintenance and traffic for the county that's for our maintenance

careers to be able to form ditching snow and ice removal and all those kinds of items our second priority is the County judge executive expense um well our routine maintenance of traffic is $716,000 for this upcoming year uh County Judge expense is $3,875 the flex funds appropriation for gron county is $367,450 and our fourth priority is is going to be a resurfacing project on 1214 from the heartt county line from m.0 to Kentucky 479 at M 1.94 for a total distance of 1.94 miles and an estimated cost of $275,700 our fifth priority is a asphalt resurfacing project on Kentucky 736 from Kentucky 79 m point 0 To Us 62 at M 2.8 882 for a total distance of 2882 Mi and an estimated cost of $39,586 our sixth priority is an asphalt

resurfacing project ony 2778 from Kentucky 1214 at mile point0 to Hackney Road at Mile 2272 for total distance of 2.72 mies and estimated cost of 29844 miles and our last uh priority is some payment repair work on Kentucky 878 at approximately m.2 at an estimated cost of $10,000 so all that total together is $1,997 190 for our total RS program for the year any questions mag that's from the 54 side that 878 is that 2/10 from 54 going in guess that HP probably it's the hump okay yeah I okay no questions or anything I got some go ahead go ahead when's the roundabout starting that everybody's dreading so much which one

which one the one that Mark approved one mark the stone Memorial roundabout yeah the the one at 62 in Walmart we've heard I mean we we've heard some grumblings of it and I've talked to you a little bit about it you may say it's out there as early as next month um really corre wow we're waiting on a master agreement to work its way through the process and asphalt plants to open up and be able to get asphalt base okay is it in is it in the project to also do one at 9:20 and and 124 it there is a project identified in the highway plan for both those both those intersections uh that's state funded is set up in the highway plan and that's one of those categories that's significantly over programmed far more projects than there are dollars for so I can't say when those may happen but the one the one there at 62 we have funding for it specifically and it'll start same year so is it rumor or uh truth that the bypass is going to have roundabout at us 62 it is true so once once completed both sides of the bypass at 62 will be roundabouts that's correct is it uh is

it's supposedly going to be one of the biggest ones in the state is somebody has mentioned that and of course like I said we just heard stuff and since we got you here we thought no it won't be any um any larger thanal normal roundabout um now we are we have set it up to easily exp in the future uh as that area grows it may need two lanes in some directions Turning towards out towards the school that kind of thing that the initial construction will be a single Lane roundabout but we've set it up so we can easily expand it in the future if need be so that may be wor work in advance that maybe where some of that discussion started gotcha okay U that that won't be open till traffic till next year sometime with the new bypass so gotta are you all re we out traffic or anything for the construction of the bypass which the bypass that's been left right that's correct yeah they've already started clearing work okay and most of the work is going to be off alignment so there really won't be a major impact of current traffic on any of the existing routes until some of it starts opening up except for some equipment Crossings or some temporary widening work for some

of the I mean basically the only Road you got the cross is going to be 62 right I mean we're crossing 62 we tie into 54 so there'll be some turn Lanes added on 54 um and then the city street down by the car wash across from the existing bypass up towards the there'll be some impacts there and they'll have to ride around different ways will will it disrupt like the transfer station or anything like that it will it will require some rerounding of those it will require them to manipulate the traffic flow at times to they get the approach and everything constructed for it gotcha okay all right question uh short Creek caution lights it should be lit up today man I hope so and I personally have almost been hit twice in the last two weeks now and uh I've had a lot of people you know some people think that we're you know we're responsible for it which we're not but they I get a lot of calls about it uh and I've had a lot of people suggest stuff like is there any way we could put uh the LED flashing stop signs on on 79 or just something extra to help keep

people from the the the young lady that I had call you which is lives in daran's District I think her daughter was involved in an accident correct and uh I I I mean that that's I mean people's been going through 54 for years I mean it' be be dff to put in a red light I understand that but is is there anything that you could put on the 79 side uh cuz I knew like on the bypass when we had so many fatalities on the bypass that you know we ended up putting the solar flashing you know something to catch your eye a little bit more and and the most effective thing we found in another other areas like that is what call rumble strips yeah so in that approach Lane coming up to the stop sign you put the the thermoplastic stripe but they they traff yeah perpendicular traffic there's three sets of them as you come up to the stop and that that makes people pay attention that something's happening um now if there's any houses in the area a complaint you will hear is that they they hear that through the night and everything else so if store on one side I don't think there' be problem with that if you could if you can install those but is the flashing LED stop signs not an option I've seen them you know
