Meeting of February 1, 2022

[Music] heavenly father lord we thank you for this day we thank you for the men and women that are here today lord we ask you please be with our families lord we ask every decision that we make to be a godly decision where we ask you to be with our soldiers overseas and and here in the states lord we actually be with our first responders police officers around our nation lord and

that's you uh we ask this in jesus name amen amen i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all first thing on the agenda is approve the minutes from the previous meeting motion by neil second by tommy all in favor uh any opposed next we have approved payment of bills no darren second but brian all in favor me any opposed next we have approved treasury's budget transfers as presented motion by kevin second by darren all in favor any opposed next we have approved jailor's payment of bills what is it okay uh now let's there is there's numbers yeah

i'm going to say jason oh man that's great all right uh uh payment of bills for the jailer motion by tommy second by brian all in favor all right we have no budget transfers from the jail right right okay all right and uh updates from physical court committees really don't have anything other than doing pretty good we put a lot of tiles in fixed a lot of roads still yeah okay and then the parks are yeah we're sort of they're signing up now for them yeah we're down and out on that in the building we've got about everything done they finally got the the building stuff it's those other than i think the bathroom uh all right uh next we have uh sheriff champions yes um every year we have uh we select one of our deputies to be deputy over here

um and this is not a selection that comes from me or jared or sonny per se that is usually selected by the peers of the deputies that they work with um you know i talked to the other deputies i talked to other officers that worked with this traditional man and he was unanimously selected as our 2021 deputy of the year um i always like to do it not not just because i will tell you that of course knowing his personality he doesn't need any awards or rewards for any anything but i always like to reward uh especially when i see debbie doing going above beyond i'll go ahead and tell you one of the things that i get a lot of flack out of and you all being elected officials to probably understand is when i hire somebody that doesn't necessarily live in this county i get some flack over there and i'm okay with that but when i first ran for office i promised that i would make a decision based on what i thought was best for grayson county and not necessarily get any more votes or whatever and this young man is from another county but he treats people in grayson county like he was born and raised here he treats them like he's he's they're his family and that's one of the reasons why he was selected as a 2021

deputy of the year um he's worked some pretty high profile cases made a lot of good drug arrests he's probably our top drug dress guy in our office you know he's been responsible for seasonal several thousand dollars worth of drug money uh that we're still a lot of the court cases are still pending in court so we're very thankful for that um his hearts here in grayson county when he's working here and we're very thankful to have him as one of our deputies at grace county sheriff's office so part of what i like to do is when i reward somebody i like to give them something to kind of take with them kind of remind them that we do appreciate the job that they do i will also tell you that work nick works alongside some of the best deputies i would put my deputies up against any deputies in the state of kentucky or in the nation because we have a top-notch crew right now um that they really want to do a good job really want to make an impact positive impact on our community and they're doing it and they're showing it too so very thankful for that very thankful for nick uh on behalf of the great county sheriff's office remember uh we had it made at a shop in owensboro it used to be here in grayson county um but that's nick come

on up here and this is his wife amber and her daughter what's your daughter's name thanks nick um also while amber's here i want to say i want to thank her as well and i'll speak for spouses of all law enforcement officials and first responders um you know she's also a dispatcher in green county and uh so she knows how hard it is she knows the task that you take on every day um and i'm thankful very thankful for um spouses like ambler who not only support nick and the job that he does but hold down the ford at home too and

and i'm just very thankful for for people like her that do that so thank you yeah thank you thank you i don't think you've met but i i appreciate your service thank you sir appreciate it thank you appreciate it all right anything under new business mr eric chavins saturday i went up they got some new amnesties in and and brian called me to come up and they had them all cleaned up every one of them you know so they got pretty good feet up there right now our county aren't being people to death what we've done you know we've done here in the county yeah the uh i was i i got called the friday maybe and i think they went and uh picked the ambulances up and and they uh they're very appreciative of course whenever and matter of fact it was darren i don't care to tell you it was but i don't even think he was a master at that time he had called and said that was it you or your family member that got transferred to louisville or was

made and he wasn't even working but yeah they've got they've come a long way and they're they're not they really appreciate you know all the guys up there they really appreciate it yeah we've got a first-rate hospital here in the county we've got a first-rate ambulance service yeah he was so people are very people yeah uh old business norman you know i don't know if y'all saw the article of uh where we had a gentleman that pointed a paintball gun at one of our deputies um and a lot of a lot of times people read that i don't even know how serious that actually was it was starting flecky uh with the sheriff's office he went to respond to a complaint someone had called in and said that there's somebody with a gun walking in the woods well this guy walked in the woods with a gun was the guy that called it in um and he was drunk and when deputy or when
