Grayson County Fiscal Court Meeting 10.19.2021 · Watch on YouTube ↗

Summary

Grayson County Fiscal Court – October 19, 2021

This meeting was largely routine, with the court approving a long list of standard financial items: minutes, bill payments, budget transfers, and monthly/quarterly settlements for the treasurer, jailer, and sheriff, as well as the county clerk's claim for 2021 tax bill preparation.

A notable action was approval of $450,000 from ARPA funds to the City of Caneyville for rehabilitation of its water system, which is being taken over by the Grayson County Water District. Officials emphasized the importance of ensuring reliable drinking water for about 800 customers on that system.

The court also approved bringing back retired grader operator Gordon Mudd on a part-time basis to help train newer road department employees, since another experienced operator had also recently retired.

Much of the remaining discussion centered on Halloween activities around the county, including a car club trunk-or-treat event at Bailey's Zip Mart in Millwood on October 22, a courthouse square event on October 30, and other community trunk-or-treats in Caneyville and Spring View. Magistrates reminded residents to use caution around trick-or-treaters.

County Attorney Chase Jesse thanked county officials for renovations to the county attorney's office space, and it was noted that state auditors from the Auditor of Public Accounts would be working in the courthouse for five to six weeks. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.

  • 6:11

it on that system and the grayson county water district is actually taking that system over from caneyville uh city of kennyville and they had asked if we would be willing to help and of course i said yes because we cannot let 800 people in the city limits of caneyville and beyond build out reliable drinking water so i need to approve to pay the city of caneyville 450 000 out of the arc of funds for their water system rehabilitation project i like that motion accept that motion from darren and accept it from damon and all in fact any opposed all right next i have uh one thing to approve the higher gordon mudd back part time gordon retired probably four months ago maybe and gordon was our greater operator and unfortunately jeff sanders had recently retired and jeff was our other greater operator and
