Grayson County Fiscal Court Meeting 12.21.2023 · Watch on YouTube ↗
Summary
Grayson County Fiscal Court – December 21, 2023
This was largely a routine end-of-year meeting focused on approving a long list of annual budget and settlement items for various county offices, including the Sheriff's and County Clerk's offices. All routine motions passed without discussion or dissent.
A notable item was an internet service construction agreement with a utility company to bring internet service via KU poles down Route 62 from Leitchfield to Caneyville, which was approved after review by legal counsel.
The County Clerk announced that the Motor Vehicle Department will be closed from December 29th through January 12th due to a statewide system transition (referred to as the 'Cavis' system), though the deed room will remain open during that time.
The court also revisited an October decision to pay off the debt on Logsdon Valley Park early; it was discovered that early payoff would incur over $3,000 in penalties, so the court instead approved continuing regular lease payments rather than paying it off early.
Finally, there was a discussion (no motion) about ongoing efforts to resolve water service issues with the Edmonson County Water District, including plans to install an 8-inch line to better supply Grayson County residents and relieve pressure issues affecting several hundred people in the county.
The Sheriff's Office also recognized Deputy Shane and K9 Zeus as 2023 Deputy of the Year for their work taking drugs off the streets.
