Summary
Grayson County Fiscal Court Meeting Summary — September 7, 2021
The Fiscal Court handled a routine agenda covering financial approvals, tax rate acceptances, and a road maintenance petition. Standard business included approving minutes, paying county and jail bills, and accepting budget transfers.
A notable item was the acceptance of a property donation from Mark and Joyce Duvall — a small parcel adjacent to the runway at the Grayson County Airport — which will help complete the county's holdings there. The court also approved several routine financial reports and tax rates from the public library, conservation district, Caney Creek and Short Creek watersheds, and Beaverdam (Begradys).
A petition was presented by Cynthia Harper to remove a portion of Bethel Cemetery Road from the county's road maintenance list, covering a section past the cemetery near her property. The court agreed to appoint viewers (including Clay Levron and Nick Crawford) to inspect the road, with the road judge given authority to finalize the list, following the standard posting and viewing process. It was clarified that this action would not affect access to the cemetery itself, only maintenance of the road beyond it.
In other business, the court voted to move the October meeting date from October 5th to October 12th at 11:00 a.m. due to fall break scheduling conflicts, with a second meeting still planned for October 19th at 5:00 p.m.
The meeting closed with a request for community prayers for the sick, followed by a motion to adjourn.
