Summary

Grayson County Fiscal Court – March 1, 2022

This was a routine business meeting for the Grayson County Fiscal Court, covering standard financial approvals and two budget presentations. The court approved minutes, payment of bills, budget transfers, a budget amendment, and the county's annual audit with little discussion.

A notable action was the approval of moving the jail's commissary accounts and an associated CD from Bank of Clarkson to Citizens Bank (transcribed as 'the sicilian bank'). This administrative change affects how inmate and commissary funds are held but does not change services to residents.

The Grayson County Conservation District presented its annual budget along with the Short Creek Watershed District budget, both of which were approved. The Conservation District representative outlined programs including Arbor Day tree distribution, conservation camps for youth, a no-till drill rental program, a dead animal disposal cost-share program, and various farm assistance programs (CRP, EQIP, conservation stewardship) that are expected to bring nearly $985,000 into local farmers' and businesses' hands this year.

In other business, the court recognized longtime employee Sandra for her retirement after 17 years of service, and announced that Mandy Raimer would be filling her position. The court system reported holding its first criminal jury trial at the courthouse in over two years, marking a return to normal operations after COVID-19 disruptions.

The meeting concluded with no additional old or new business and a motion to adjourn.
