you good afternoon welcome to the june 14th meeting of hardin county fiscal court i'd remind you this is a voting meeting and if you have cell phones to please turn them off or put them in the vibrate mode we'll begin with a roll call if you would miss donnelly judge barry here easter ear doug goodman here williams clam wiseman here thompson here ronnie goodman here king here mr doug goodman will lead us in the invocation and mr ronnie goodman in the pledge if you please stand to join me in prayer dear god our heavenly fathers we're assembled today we're most thankful for be here we ask to guide us in our decisions may we use our best skills and judgment peace and harmony prevailing for all hardin county for this we ask in thy name amen amen please join me in the pledge i pledge allegiance to the fire of the united states of america and to the republic for which it stands one indivisible with liberty and justice for

all under informational items we have one today we have representatives from the extension district board here with us to share with us the 2022-2023 budget for the extension service and mr steve wooden if you'd like to come to the microphone tell us what you have thank you judge i don't think our budget is a whole lot different than it's been being uh got some copies here that i can pass out serve your life um uh kentucky

extension system um department [Music] thank you sheet there with the kentucky logo is just an over view and detail report in the back if you have any questions i'll have my assistant matt back here answering for you all right he just he just run out the door looks like the total is one million five hundred sixty six thousand four and

forty seven dollars about six percent more than last year i would say i do have the opportunity to serve on this board as well and i'm always amazed at the great work that they do for the entire county with the limited funds that they have and the board members are very diligent and very frugal and making sure the budget's adhered to during the year thank you jack yeah appreciate the great work that that you all do if you have any questions we just need to note if you would miss donnelly that extension service did submit their budget for the minutes anyone have any questions no questions just thank you very much all right well thank y'all that was pretty simple we appreciate your good work all right we'll move on to department and office reports and first up we have mr mike mcnutt with animal control that's animal care and control animal care and control good afternoon good afternoon guys i was going to have that young man right there do my report for me but i didn't know if i'd get in trouble he was up for it wouldn't you he was ready to do it wasn't you he'd probably talk forever

no he said all right this month for may we adopted 49 we returned 19 rescued 11 and there were five that had to be euthanized next slide please for the year today dog adoptions is at 555 that's up 223 compared to last year what's funny about that is while our adoptions are up we are jam-packed of big dogs i mean the kennels are staying totally full no matter what we're trying in and it's across the nation the way i understand it but the the places that we partner with to try and swap out dogs they're full too so we haven't been able to trade out any spaces lately so uh we're trying to run some specials and see if we can get some of the long-timers out the door as quick as we can we returned 233 dogs to owners this for the year to date that's 69 more than last year so the officers are definitely doing their job in the field next slide please rescues is at 10 which is extremely low but we're still having trouble at the border

with canada there's a lot of stuff that they're not letting go a lot of people that are not letting pass and also gas prices are really affecting all the rescue organizations right now next slide please for year to date euthanasia on dogs is at seven percent next slide for the year to date adoptions is at 58 that's up 15 compared to last year so i mean the adoptions are are coming through and doing what they're supposed to do so next slide uh for the return to owner we're at 24 next slide for the year to date we've investigated 1 353 calls out in the field which is identical to last year during may which we double checked that because it just seemed kind of odd that it was exactly the same next slide for the may pie chart unincorporated is it forty percent and incorporated is it sixty percent next slide for the year to date unincorporated sits at 42 and incorporated at 58 next slide for year-to-date shelter live release rate

is sitting at 94 percent so even though we're packed we're still being able to maintain a high level of saving the animals we're also the cat live release rate is at 96 percent we're not seeing as many cats come through the door a lot of it's because the return to field program is working i mean it's like magic it's unbelievable you're supposed to be able to see something within seven years but i'm definitely already seeing a decrease in the numbers now next slide the monthly live cat release rate is at 94 percent next slide we had 943 visitors looking for lost pets or to adopt that came through the shelter so there's a lot of people coming in uh just not all of them are leaving with animals uh i put this together just because i and i actually did this for the employees but i thought i would share it with you guys too while in may maintaining 120 to 130 animals the entire month so there were 120 to 130 animals in the building and the whole month and employees while they kept all those animals cleaned and healthy we also had 469 animals come in
