Meeting of December 29, 2022

thank you good morning welcome to the December 29th meeting of Hardin County Fiscal Court I'd remind you this is a voting meeting and if you have cell phones the police turn them off or put them in the vibrate mode we'll begin with the roll call if you would miss Tomlin judge Berry here Easter here Doug Goodman here William here clam here Wiseman here Thompson here Ronnie Goodman here King here Magister Easter will lead us an invocation and Magister came in the pledge of the police stand join me in the word of Prayer dear how my father we're so thankful for your love and your grace we thank you for today and many blessings we've received Lord there's a lot that's happening on court today I just pray that we do do diligence and that we're found faithful at the end of the day on our responsibilities to those in the community I pray for those that are leaving and those that are staying I know that doors closed but there's also one that opens I just pray for all them and let

them know the way they need to go I ask that you be with us now God and direct us as we go about this agenda and it's the name of Jesus Christ I pray amen amen amen please join me in the pledge I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and we are the Republic for which it stands one nation under the ground with liberty and justice for all foreign begin with department and elected office reports today first up is Pat Elmore County coroner morning judge member of the Court's pleasure to be here this morning we'll go over October November numbers and we have some amendments today because we've actually started finishing up our December numbers so uh our October numbers seven was our accident load we had several one resulted in the fall you see that the overdose has continued and the stack in there and one thing you'll see that's consistent is the meth and the Fentanyl

and the carpent on the gabapentin and stuff like that so we had 104 Naturals and four suicides so that was that was a fairly heavy load for accidents in October November again 11 accidents had several motor vehicle collisions part of those will have drug involvement in them and of course you can see the overdoses resulted in several of our deaths also and again same thing over again it seemed like you just kind of stamped that out we had an 84 Naturals at the time total cases for the year is and these numbers will change that was the number as of the middle of no or actually the end of November but our total cases for the year are 1268 so we're rolling right along with those I mean it's uh we're already up again this year and it's your next slide will show you know as far as uh same thing the only downside that we didn't have a one homicide this year so far but of course obviously the year is not over with so that was that was kind of a nice thing to see a trend that we were overloaded with last year as far as the homicides and so forth a drug overdoses again you'll see those we had and then we're actually uh up we

have six cases pending at this time for Toxicology so we could expect more than likely those will be a result of an overdose also cremations uh again that seems to be a big number that we face every year more and more time I guess with constraints on the economy and so for people are choosing that and a lot of them are younger folks that you know that they're that's what they're choosing is this position are more glove is is an item that we continue to run with we're over 200 for more this year as far as bodies inside now fast that's another number continues to climb residents again Hardin County a lot of those would be a result because of the hospital we work to work a lot of cases out of our Hospital albeit consult and of course Radcliff beard number two area there so any questions so far any comments or concerns thanks we appreciate the great job real quick judged uh on behalf myself Dr Lee with us today I know I speak for him also we want to thank you for your service and the help over the years as well as the outgoing members we wish you all the best in your next Endeavors and obviously we'll always be around anybody

needs okay thank you thank you next we'll hear from the Hardin County sheriff sheriff Ward good morning Judge Barry members of the Court Clerk of County attorney and everyone else seems different coming here in the morning have you had your coffee just a little bit not much it uh on law enforcement activity for October November uh 185 arrest 340 citations 129 warrants 823 civil papal civil papers served 1272 complaint calls 123 accidents investigated 81 criminal cases opened and 3167 other activities 863 school safety checks 262 violation warnings 2042 of 10 attempts to serve records checks and office operations 92

records checks 207 Concealed Carry Permits 1169 Vehicles inspected Court transport 123 adults transported two juveniles 117 in-state transports that's all I have for this report but I do want to take a moment and thank Lisa Doug Roy Gary Ronnie and Bill thank you all for your service I appreciate your all support of the Sheriff's Office and all you've done for the county and good luck uh in retirement of course Donnelly it's been a pleasure working with you appreciate your service it uh judge Berry it uh it's been a pleasure working with you it uh when I first come into this job eight years ago it uh I've been in government service for years but I didn't know how it would be it's the first time I'd ever been into a job you had to get elected to do the job and uh you know it uh you see things on TV on

the news and uh it uh it's so much different in County government because there's no I learned quickly there's no partners that everybody's got to be a member of a party to get elected but once you're in County government you work together to serve the serve the community and uh it's been an honor of working working with the judge and I appreciate that appreciate your support of the Sheriff's Office and I feel like um I told somebody the other day that I I feel like working uh working with judge Berry has uh made me a better uh have helped make me a better Sheriff because uh whether it's it's him being a retired Colonel or what but it's intimidating to talk to the judge because any anytime you take documents to him it's not just looking over and signing off on your budget he goes through it line by line and you better be ready to uh to answer questions or go back and get the answers but uh I feel like you've uh you've helped make me a better Sheriff judge and thank you all and it's been a pleasure serving with you thank you you've made me a better person [Music]

um thank you next we'll hear from Terry Bennett the Chief Financial Officer for the Sheriff's Office good morning judge and members of physical Court morning it is early to come up here and talk about all these numbers so first I'm going to talk about the budget which you all have in front of you and we're talking about October and November you see some figures in the December area but those are just numbers that they have already put in going through preparing for the end of the year actually and if you look at October you will see that we spent seven point four eight percent of our budget which amounted to four hundred twenty one thousand dollars and that consisted of 350 I'm sorry I do have my glasses on today but the numbers are kind of little as you can see 359 percent uh I'm sorry 359 000 which was Manpower and then we had our other big ticket item on the budget was as usual's gasoline of about eighteen thousand dollars and the rest
