The district reported it now serves about 70% of the county's population and ranks among the largest water districts in Kentucky.
The Hardin County Conservation District presented its 2025-26 budget and a dead-animal-removal check, and Magistrate/Supervisor Vincent Thompson announced his candidacy for U.S. Senate, meaning he will leave his conservation district supervisor role after 2026.
Department reports covered solid waste/code enforcement activity, engineering (including a deep dive into bat habitat mitigation requirements near Pearl Hollow landfill and flood damage assessment), and the road department's response to a very active winter with heavy snow, ice, flooding, and salt usage nearly triple the annual budget.
The court approved the minutes of the February 25 meeting and a consent agenda covering claims, financial transfers, personnel actions, and the detention center policy manual, all without discussion. Magistrate Clem also used his comment time to address a prior disagreement with the judge-executive over procedural rules, expressing regret for losing composure at the previous meeting. The meeting adjourned with the next regular session set for March 25 at 5:30 p.m.

Yates yes judge tall yes motion passes all right next we'll move into informational items and we'll start right off the bat with water district one annual presentation by Justin Mets thank you everyone I appreciate uh my name is Justin met general manager for Harden County Water dis number one and I appreciate you afford the opportunity to come here and give a little update on what Harden County Water District number one's had going on so your monitor hopefully front of you how you guys look at that should I'll start off unfortunately with a little bit of sad news uh our board lost two of its uh members in the past year chairman William goset he was a board member for nearly 26 years and the chairman for the past 11 years that he served on the board and he passed away in May of 2024 um and then unfortunately Jimmy Shelton was elected our Treasurer not too long ago and he passed away uh kind of unexpectedly at the end of February so those have been two pretty big losses from our board from the district and uh really from the community Harden County
