Meeting of September 10, 2024

time to start 3:30 so um yeah first of all as usual thanks thanks again for joining today um check your cell phones if you don't mind real quick know I sometimes forget to do that and have been embarrassed multiple times so sa save yourself that all right so let's go ahead and get started this is the September 10th 2024 Harden County Fiscal Court regular voting meeting and let's begin and call this meeting to order start off with a roll call please squir clim here Squire Hicks here Squire Muse here Square Pennington Square Saltzman here squar Thompson here Squire Whitehead here squ Yates judge tall here next to be uh invocation uh magistrate Kenny Saltzman and our Pledge of Allegiance by magistrate paty Whitehead pray with me please father God we thank you for this beautiful weather that you've given us uh the last few

days uh father we pray for some rain it's getting a little dry out there U little more than dry but father you know all things best and you know what we need and before we even ask father I pray that you would be with us today and uh just be with us as a court help us to make uh good decisions for the county uh we pray for our country and our state father we pray for those that are not here with us this morning this afternoon uh father we thank you for your son Jesus it's in his name we pray amen amen amen please join me in the pledge I pledge ALG to the flag of the United States America and to the for it stands one nation under God indivisible Li and justice for all all right again thanks thanks uh for joining today I'll just uh quickly as usual review the agenda uh we have um a couple things to take care of next a proclamation that we're going to do and then after after that we have a public hearing on a road

closing uh we'll approve the uh minutes from our last meeting and then we have uh several informational items uh some property tax rates to hereabout and um a tax settlement from the Sheriff's Office and then we have uh several presentations uh from planning Public Works engineering and road department um there's some written reports that are available for the public to look at and then we'll have a time of uh C any citizens concerns or comments uh then we have several items in our consent agenda that I'll I'll U explain whenever we get there and then again wrap up with uh any comments at the end so um that is our agenda for today and um I just I did want to mention one thing before we go to the proclamation that's coming up um I was um honored to um represent Harden County at um uh feeding America event that uh occurred this morning and so uh it so

happens that U this Proclamation is basically saying that September 2024 is is hunger action month in Harden County so we were uh basically proclaiming that is it's really to bring awareness awareness and help to end Hunger in our community and just a couple of Statistics that uh were um uh a bit shocking to me actually is that uh the big one was that as far as Harden County there are over 15,000 people that face food insecurity um in this area so uh um I I wouldn't have thought there would be any you know and that's how sheltered I guess that I am I don't think that I've ever faced a day where I didn't feel like I could find something to eat uh even growing up on a dairy farm we didn't have much but we had food and uh so it's just thinking about that statistic you know that that's a number over 15,000 but that's 15,000 people in our in our County that uh struggle uh with something as basic as food so um

I'm very thankful that we have uh feeding America feeding America Kentucky Heartland they distributed more than 1.2 million Mills meals in Harden County so um it's it's organizations like this that um make a difference and they have they have several staff but they're they mostly depend on volunteers uh like any of us to go there and and help distribute that food and to um provide the food that people need so U just thankful for them I just wanted to make sure that that was as public as we can make it and if there's any way that uh any of us in this County uh can help them out and volunteer as as uh as we can to uh to help in this area all right so i' would like to move on then to a proclamation here I have it right here in front of me and um this has to do with a lady that's uh from this area uh that has um achieved uh something uh pretty great really and I just want to read this

Proclamation and then we'll um uh we'll kind of gather up here in front and and and uh and give this to to her and um take a few pictures maybe so U let's let's go ahead and read this so this is a proclamation Harden County um it says whereas during the week of August 20th through August 28th of 20124 Mrs Megan cable proudly and brilliantly represented both Harden County and the state of Kentucky at the M Kentucky America Pageant and whereas unrealized by most participating in pageants is more than an emphasis on external beauty but instead a celebration of accomplishments inner character volunt erism towards charity or community service and extraordinary talents and whereas Megan's participation and success in pageantry has not only contributed to her success in life but has also helped to encourage and Empower girls and women of all ages and whereas Megan was awarded the title of Mrs Kentucky America due to her achievements in personal commitments now

therefore be it resolved on behalf of all the citizens of Harden County I do hereby Proclaim on this September 10th 2024 as Megan cable [Applause] day all right so could we all just kind of gather down here we'll present this going have to squish in a little bit more than

thank you all so much I really appreciate it um growing up in Harden County um up in the north end in Radcliffe um this is something that is very important to me and very special to me um my work for Harden county is working with Baptist Health Harden directly on um getting weight in a car policy written for all of the women in Harden County who have experienced miscarriage and infant loss as a mother to miscarriages and our sweet daughter Ellie who passed um in July of 2019 it's very important for me as a person and for other women in this County to be cared for to be seen and to be honoring a space for them as they go back for postpartum care um so thank you very much for honoring me with this as I continue to do the real work right here in our County and in our state thank you all right thank you all right thank you very much now on to something uh on to the rest of not so exciting um agenda items so um next would be our public
