Hardin County Fiscal Court – September 10, 2024

The court opened with a proclamation honoring Megan Cable, who was crowned Mrs. Kentucky America and has advocated for miscarriage and infant loss care policies at Baptist Health Hardin. The judge also highlighted Hunger Action Month, noting over 15,000 Hardin County residents face food insecurity.

A public hearing was held on closing a 60-foot undeveloped platted right-of-way at the end of Christine Way in Concord Heights, requested by property owner Steven Bush. The Planning Commission had given a favorable recommendation, and no objections were raised. The court later approved this closure by separate resolution (2024-181/2024-11) after it was accidentally left in the consent agenda.

Routine business included approval of the August 27, 2024 minutes, acceptance of set property tax rates from the Extension Office (compensating rate, slightly lower for personal property), and postponement of the Conservation District annual report and Sheriff's tax settlement since no one was present to present them.

Department reports covered Planning (zone changes, strong growth in new homes and permits, and success of the accessory dwelling program), Public Works (code enforcement, shredding events, recycling trailers, landfill hours, household hazardous waste day), Engineering (road safety projects, GIS work, stormwater and sinkhole contamination concerns), and the Road Department (pothole patching, mowing, culvert replacements, paving projects, upcoming chip seal work).

The consent agenda, covering claims, personnel resolutions, a deed of conveyance clarification for the Glendale industrial site, and a bridge aid resolution for Gaither Station Bridge, passed with one magistrate voting no. The meeting closed with magistrates announcing community events (Radcliff Days, Upton Days, Valley Creek Fire Department pig roast) and committee meeting reminders, then adjourned.
