[Music] good afternoon welcome to the december 22nd meeting of hardin county fiscal court i remind you it is a voting meeting so if you have cell phones please turn them off or put them in the vibrate mode we'll begin with a roll call if you would miss dolly wiseman thompson here ronnie goodman yeah kane here judge barry here easter here doug goodman here ben mr thompson will lead us in the invocation mr king in the pledge if you please stand please join me here prayer father god we uh thank you that you're present today and that you're all powerful we thank you father that um no matter what pitches us around in this world that you're still in charge lord we thank you that um there tends to be uh some break in pandemic that we're struggling with we

pray father that you would see your way clear to heal our land that we might be a people that you would take glory in and that you that we would honor you and we pray lord that you guide our meeting today that we might make decisions that would uh bring out our glory to you in jesus name amen can you please join me in the pledge i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america and to the republic for we should stand one nation under god indivisible with liberty first up we have department and elected office reports first will be the coroner dr lee afternoon judge and members of the court good afternoon have our bi-monthly report with october

november corner activities and uh yes robin you got the button there first slide the october showing our total cases 83 and the breakdown that accidental had quite a few of those ain't accidents three car accidents four overdoses and you've heard me talk about fentanyl quite often that's the number one drug overdose there was one fall injuries from a fall one homicide by gunshot and the one pending the autopsy you see at the bottom of the slide and it's still waiting on the interpretation of toxicology and of course 73 naturals so next slide for those who like pictures and get the pie charts on the with those natural desks 73 of them that makes up 87 of our workload that month sometimes naturals can provide a lot of background and checking and ruling out other things and sometimes they're pretty simple and pretty easy to figure out every case is different next slide will be november and we jumped up to 96 cases that might be our all-time high joy judge i'm not sure i need to research that a little bit

for one month in the three accidents uh some falls again and uh drug overdose again uh three suicides two with a gun and one hanging and still another autopsy they were waiting on some results it's a busy month in november and next slide will be just a pie chart again this 93 of those were the natural category next slide just shows the cumulative cases like 2015 at 624 and uh you all know our years calendar year instead of the count i mean you know almost like calendar year as opposed to the hotel category that's fiscal year sorry but uh so 624 cases back in 2015 we're up 910 as you see and still have another month to go maybe a busy year so i suspect next year we'll probably break a thousand cases judge next slide will be the manner of death you know there are four categories there's accident homicide suicide and natural and

so excluding all those natural deaths on this slide you see those three categories of accidental the homicide and the suicide groups there and we had more accidents than last year and more so more homicides than last year were down a little bit on the suicides as you see i don't have a good explanation of that but okay next slide it shows always said that's a busy slide maybe too much on there autopsies with the number of cases we've had a few more autopsies than uh 31 compared to what we're usually in the 20s on the autopsies that we sent to louisville the queethole the low number uh the center column and cremations that continues to rise and seem like about every year then the next category little category they're the county cremations we've done a few of those three this year and then the last two categories that kind of i like to look at those ems transporting versus the corner transporting this usually from the scene back to the corners office and you see the ums

transport has dropped from when we started doing this hit a high of 47 in the blue column and then 15 this year and then hours the corner transport is increasing you see we did 91 so i'd like for that number to come in continue to increase and you've heard me talk about that just the ems are there to take care of that folks and by the time you get a decontaminated body and take the vehicle out for a decon and take the two crew members i mean that puts them in a mind and i think price i guess hope that's helping you less but but they're always there to help i mean those folks do a great job for hardin county and they're a great bunch to work with they make my job a lot easier next slide is a new slide that shayna has incorporated since we're having so many overdoses some of you may have seen the courier journal i think it was the 17th i think that was last thursday talking about their drug overdoses made the front page of the courier journal i think this year they've had five over 500 and they've usually been in the mid 300s up until this year and here what what you're seeing here

this is uh we started 2015 you see 12 cases there and you see shayna's note there at the bottom it says 2015 through 2019 those are the 12 month entire year this year she's got and just the 11 months which our calendar ends november 30th and then of course we still got the one more month so we're probably well over 40 almost double of what we had last year at 24 last year drug related deaths and now 39 already just amazing i don't know what's going on part of that may be coveted related people frustrated and trying to solve their problems with drugs i don't know and i think the last slide that will be the residency of the decedents we usually keep that keep track of that and it's kind of interesting figures that notice the october e-town and reclaif had the same number 25. it's kind of rare but for the year though typically e-town will be about twice as much because of the hospitals and more nursing homes and the bigger population so i think that's the last one anybody has

any questions you want to have questions for dr olivia okay i wish everybody a merry christmas and enjoy time with your families over the holidays thank you thank you merry christmas to you the next two are budgets from our fee offices as you all well know they're on fiscal years that coincide with the calendar year which is different from the rest of the offices in the county government where the fiscal year begins in july the first one is the county clerk's office their proposed budget for next year is a total amount of 2 million 307 thousand eight hundred sixty four dollars and forty eight cents and miss donnelly is there anything you'd like to point out or discuss well um salaries is two million uh sixty thousand to eight hundred and sixty four dollars forty cents our office expenses 147 and equipment 100 000. and we pretty much uh kept it in close balance with last year so
