all right so we're uh just uh want to say welcome uh everyone good afternoon uh again if you wouldn't mind to check your cell phones that would be uh save us all a little embarrassment if if you wouldn't mind to do that I just checked mine so I think I'm good all right so let's go ahead and um and start uh this is uh the January 23rd 2024 Harden County Fiscal Court regular voting meeting and let's begin and call this meeting to uh to order and let's start with a roll call Squire Clen here Squire hix yes here Square Muse here Square Pennington here Squire Salzman here Squire Thompson here Squire Whitehead here Squire Yates here judge tall here uh next we'll have our invocation by magistrate Hicks and Pledge of Allegiance by magistrate Pennington let's pray Heavenly Father we just come to you today giving you praise and glory for everything that's said and done here today Father we just ask you to watch over all the families that are represented here today we just ask you

also to be with our country it's in a sad shape right now we just pray that uh you would intervene and change some things but just lead and guide us and direct us in everything we say and do here this afternoon in Jesus name I pray amen I pledge Ali to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible liy and justice for all right well thanks again uh for joining today um again I appreciate the mayor of a northern part of our County uh joining us of course his wonderful wife makes him look good so I appreciate both of them being here today and and all of our elected officials um let's uh let's just uh uh review the agenda real quick um uh today uh after these comments or during these comments uh have a a a very exciting thing to do of a proclamation and we'll get into that in just a moment uh we'll

approve our minutes as usual from the previous meeting uh after that we have our reports as usual uh any any citizens concerns or comments uh today we don't have any specific uh ordinances or resolutions to vote on but but we do have the typical consent agenda that I'll review those items and we'll vote on those uh and then the comments at the end we do have a closed session uh today uh that we'll wrap up with um after the comments and then we'll adjourn after that closed session so that's our agenda uh fairly simple one today uh one thing I wanted to to say is I'm I am glad U that this winter storm is over okay and I know that uh uh there there was a lot of uh work that was done on the on the roads uh was a big thing that we had to work through and uh so we've got um we've started up some uh after Storm review if you will with the emergency medical uh people and um with our U road department and others that could have impact in or have some input

into that into that meeting and so we're we're always looking for ways to improve and um uh I know there's been some concern about uh about some of the roads so we're we'll be looking over that this week and uh and uh making sure that we can U do even better in the during the next storm whenever that rolls around hopefully not this year but we'll see um all right so before we move on to the next agenda there there is an important item of business that must be addressed and so we have a proclamation today that I want to present and uh so what I'll do is I'll come down to that microphone and U ask um our guest to come with up here with me and then I will go ahead and read that I'll give her uh some time to respond and um and then after that we're going to take just a few minutes to gather all the magist together up here in front and we'll we'll we'll take a few pictures um if if that's okay so um anyway we'll start and we'll do this so if you if you don't know this is

Sophia Todd and uh so she's the one that we are recognizing today so if you allow me I'm going to go ahead and read this Proclamation okay so um yeah so Proclamation whereas during the week of January 9th through January 14th of 20124 Miss Sophia Todd proudly and brilliantly represented both Harden County and the state of Kentucky at the Miss America's team competition and whereas unrealized by most participating in Pat is more than an emphasis on external beauty but instead a celebration of Scholastic achievements inner character volunteerism towards charity or community service and extraordinary talents and whereas Sophia's participation and success in pageantry has not only contributed to her success in life but has also helped to encourage and Empower girls and women of all ages and whereas Miss Todd was awarded the title of Miss America Got Talent due to exemplary talent in overall fourth

runner up in the Miss America's teen pageant and now therefore be it resolved on behalf of all the citizens of Harden County I do hereby Proclaim on this January 23rd 2024 as Sophia Todd day all right yes Sophia Todd day yes within Harden County Kentucky and encourage all of our citizens join me in this worthy observance set this 23rd day of January on the year of Our Lord 2024 with the official seal of the county of Harden congratulations thank all [Applause] right prep a little something yes please so let me start by saying thank you all for having me here today and it is a good day to come from Kentucky and an even better day to come from the heartland of this Commonwealth my beautiful Hometown Harden County so as it seems I made a little history a few

weeks ago in Orlando Florida or as they say in the Miss America opportunity her story by being the first ever speed painter in the entire Miss America system to ever win the talent portion of competition and also by being the first speed painting contestant to place in top five for Miss America's team finals and I was awarded with fourth runner up Miss Kentucky mallerie Hudson and I made history together by being the first ever Miss Kentucky and miss ky's teen to place in the finals of Miss America in the same year Miss Kentucky teen hasn't made it to final five in over a decade and a half and Miss Kentucky hasn't made it to final five in over two decades I'm sure we all know Miss Heather French Henry she was our last Miss Kentucky and I like like I said it's a good day to be from Kentucky and I'm also the first delegate from Harden County to ever win Miss ky's Teen and I'm humbled to say that I've earned 17,7 $100 in scholarship money from the Miss America opportunity and I have been given a full ride scholarship to the

University of Alabama and I'm just waiting for an acceptance letter in March so if I got some prayers for that but none of this would be possible without all of you my community my hometown My Tribe my Village supporters and sponsors and last but not least my family and Jesus I carried you all with me to Orlando Florida and that love and support is what pushes me to do best as your Miss ky's Teen if you know me then you know my mom Rachel and we're a team and as this community you have supported us both in the family face painting business in my pageant Endeavors over the years and you know that we support you right back we always strive to do as much for our community as it is done for us and leave it better than we found it even even before I was crowned Miss ky's Teen I was serving as an art teacher at Hope Academy for kids as my family has done for years before I was able to do some face painting at the Harden County Fair this summer to raise awareness for Hope Academy for kids and I raised all my funds for my Miss America expenses
