Meeting of March 24, 2026

I don't know. My hair is getting long. It's all good. That's what we're doing. Call this Mayhill Oakhaven Fiscal Court to order. On this uh 24th day of March 2026 at 5:00 p.m. Uh I'm going to ask brother Robert Bailey to come forward to microphone and lead us in a prayer and a pledge to flag. Dear heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus. We thank you for this opportunity to meet today. I thank you, Lord God, for every person that's out here today to take part in this Fiscal Court meeting. And I pray, Lord God, that you be with all of our elected officials. That you watch over them and that you protect them and you watch over our community. Help us to be wise in what we do and the decisions we make. And Lord God, I pray for a good meeting today. That everything gets solved that needs to get solved to where this county can move forward for you in everything that it does. And we would give you all the praise, all the glory, and all the

honor for it. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Thank you, brother Ron. Um I'm here going to read this. I am. Okay. Use your microphone. Oh, I will. Uh Sonya's going to read the uh Arbor Day proclamation that I'm fixing to sign. Whereas the Commonwealth is graced with diverse forests that extend from the hardwood forests of the east to the cypress swamps of the west. And whereas trees are a sustainable resource providing significant environmental, economic, social, and human health benefits to Kentuckians. And whereas over 1/3 of Kentuckians live in a community actively managed managing their urban forest spending over

$12.4 million on this asset. And whereas Kentucky's forest products are a $19 billion green industry employing over 59,000 people. And whereas forests improve our health and offer a place of recreational solace. And whereas trees and healthy forests enhance the quality of life for all Kentuckians. Be it resolved therefore that I, David Johnston, Judge Executive of the County of Ohio, do hereby proclaim April the 3rd, 2026 as Arbor Day in Ohio County. I urge all citizens across this great country to participate in observance of this day by planting a tree. Our reward and that of future generations will be a more beautiful Ohio County whose health and well-being are sustained by the great natural resource of our forests. Okay. I'm going to sign it. So, it is proclaimed. Now then, uh if some of you are here for the uh uh Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month, would you come up here with me? Or with thus I should say.

Whereas child abuse and neglect is a serious problem in our society affecting every segment of Ohio County and our children are our most valuable resources and will shape the future of Ohio County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky and whereas child abuse is considered one of our nation's most serious public health problems with scientific studies documenting the link between the abuse and neglect of children in a wide range of medical, emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders and whereas child abuse can have long-term psychological, emotional, and physical effects that have lasting consequences for victims of abuse and every child is entitled to be loved,

cared for, nurtured, feel secure, and be free from verbal, sexual, emotional, and physical abuse and neglect and whereas it is the responsibility of every adult who comes in contact with a child to protect that child's inalienable right to a safe and nurturing childhood. And whereas effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships created between social service agencies, schools, health, community, and faith-based organizations, law enforcement agencies, businesses, and families. And whereas communities must make every effort to promote programs and activities that create strong and thriving children and families. And whereas prevention remains the best defense for our children and families. Now, therefore, I, David Johnston, Judge Executive of Ohio County, do hereby proclaim the month of April 2026 Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Month in Ohio County. I urge all citizens to join me in protecting Ohio County's children by providing them a safe environment free from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse and neglect. my top copy here and get y'all right. We do have some signs for Child Abuse Prevention Month. We have We brought a couple in, but we have plenty in our vehicles. So, if you would like a Child Abuse Prevention sign and some pinwheels, cuz pinwheels are the symbol for Child Abuse Prevention Month along with the color of blue. Um we have pinwheels um available, too. We have a bunch in our car. We have some blue ribbons, if you want a blue Just anything to help support child abuse prevention month and show that we care about our kids. Feel Feel free to put where you want to in the front of this building and in the courthouse as well. Okay, perfect. We'll do that before we leave.
