11-27-23 Ohio County Fiscal Court Special-Called Meeting · Watch on YouTube ↗

Summary

This was a brief special-called meeting of the Ohio County Fiscal Court on November 27, 2023, mainly to handle a few pieces of purchasing business. The court opened with prayer and pledge, then approved routine bills, claims, payments, and transfers.

Magistrates discussed election costs, noting that consolidating precincts into fewer voting centers may not have saved as much money as hoped once frequency of payments and inflation were factored in. There was also a brief discussion about inmate medical costs and how the county can sometimes recover money from the state for expenses over $1,000 per incident.

The court then reviewed and accepted a bid from Botman Auto Group for a new coroner's van at a price of about $47,517 (approximate, garbled in transcript), noting the added equipment divider brought value up from a base market value of around $46,110.

Finally, the court reviewed bids for a new sheriff's vehicle, a 2023 Tahoe, and approved a motion to accept the purchase at roughly $5,673 (likely a garbled/mistranscribed price), with some discussion about the increasing size of Tahoes compared to older models.

The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn.
