Meeting of February 24, 2026

[music] [music] call this meeting of the camp court to order. Um, and I'm going to ask U. Greg Hiller to give us a pledge and I mean a prayer and a pledge of pledge. Let's pray. Father in heaven, we thank you uh for this day that you've given us. We thank you for a beautiful community and a county in which we live. Father, we thank you for the opportunity to raise our families here, to work here, to teach here, to raise our food here, Father, to uh to just enjoy uh the way of life that you have blessed us with. Father, I pray for this governing body this evening, Father, as they make decisions uh for our community, Father, that they would seek your will, that they would seek your guidance, and most importantly, that they would seek your word. We thank you for providing us with wisdom, wisdom to walk with, wisdom to

learn with, and wisdom to make decisions. Father, we pray for them. We pray for their families and their willingness to serve us. and and Father, we just pray your blessings upon them as they do their jobs. Father, we pray this now and we ask it in Jesus name. — Amen. Please stand for the pledge. — I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. — It might get in around us here. So, I'm just going to read this. and I'm going to sign. — Okay. — Okay. [clears throat] Whereas the National FFA Organization is a national youth organization comprised of over 900,000 student members as part of over 9,000 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. And whereas FFA and agricultural education provide a strong foundation for the youth of America and the future of food, fiber, and natural resources systems while promotion lead promoting leadership, personal growth and career success among its members.

And whereas agricultural education and FFA ensure a steady supply of young professionals to meet the growing needs in the science, business, and technology of agriculture. And whereas FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways. And [snorts] whereas the FFA motto, learning to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve, gives direction and purpose to these students who take an active role in succeeding in agricultural education. Be it resolved, therefore, that I, David Johnston, judge executive of the Ohio count, Judge Executive of Ohio County, do hereby proclaim the week of February 21st through the 28th, 2026 as FFA week in Ohio County and invite all citizens to duly note this occasion. I really do appreciate the FFA and I I

Jerry Bailey. He's our maintenance supervisor here at the U community center in the courthouse. He's going to give us update on our new heating and air units in the building. Good afternoon. [clears throat] I start off back when I first started. The heat and air was awful here. To be honest, the third floor, [snorts] half of them wouldn't work. The units wouldn't. And I'd be calling in Marty to fix them. It cost $400 or $500 to get parts for them. Sometimes up to 5,000 to replace the unit. Since we've [clears throat] got this new heating in there, everything's running really well. Uh the third floor is really happy. We used to I wouldn't even want to go up to the third floor because I knew I'd kind of be hearing it, you know. So, uh I was looking back at 24. Our electric bill was 6,500. Sometimes it'd be a little more since we've got the new heating unit. It's right around 5,000. So, we're saving, you know, probably like $3 $400

pretty close a month on the electric. And then the water, it's kind of hard to judge on the water because of the court, you know, upstairs, people coming in and out, but we did have leaks in the cooling tire and sometimes the units would leak inside the building. So, I was kind of looking back. Usually the water bill runs around 1,200. We're down [clears throat] to close to seven now. So that's saving two to 300, you know. [snorts] Uh so other than that, everything is running up to par. You know, we've had going for probably about 6 7 months. We've had a few little quirks here and there we've had to work out because, you know, everything new, you got to have some problems, but uh it's up and running good and everything's looking good — and we don't have that noise from that coolant tower back there. — No more noise. Yeah. And like I say, no more leaks out there. And you know, like I say, everybody's pretty comfortable in the building. Back when it was, you know, hot, everybody stayed in cooked building. Now it's cold. Everybody's staying pretty warm, so everything's looking really good.
