Summary

Ohio County Fiscal Court – Special-Called Meeting, August 13, 2021

This brief special-called meeting covered two agenda items. First, the court gave first reading to an ordinance authorizing the Ohio County Public Facilities Corporation to act as the county's agent regarding hospital lease bonds. County Attorney Justin Town explained this was the first step in a process that would continue at the August 24 meeting, and confirmed the county itself would bear no liability for any indebtedness — payments under the agreements would be made by the hospital.

Second, the court approved hiring Jeremy D. Autry as an equipment operator for the road department at a rate of $13 an hour, effective Monday, August 15. His position is funded through ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds and is intended for training purposes, making it more seasonal in nature. There was brief discussion about using such positions to bring on younger workers who don't yet have a CDL, giving them on-the-job experience and a path toward getting certified.

Both items passed with unanimous roll-call votes, and the meeting was adjourned shortly after.
