Summary

The Ohio County Fiscal Court opened its October 13, 2026 meeting with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. The judge executive read proclamations naming October 2026 Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

The court approved the September 22 minutes and the September 29 special-called meeting minutes, paid the bills, claims and transfers, and accepted the clerk's September 2026 financial report.

Representatives of No One Fights Alone in Ohio County asked for a donation. The group is the only local cancer-assistance organization, and rain hurt its fundraisers this year. Several magistrates pledged contributions from their discretionary funds, and the court voted to approve the donations. Magistrate Bullock also said by text that he would give.

A magistrate moved to pass a resolution on data centers. The motion died for lack of a second, and the court noted it had already passed a moratorium.

During public comment, a resident raised safety concerns, including an unmarked railroad crossing, school parking lot traffic, drugs and homelessness, and public comments being turned off on the court's social media. Officials said the crossing had been inspected and that a public safety group exists. Another speaker raised a dispute over a coal company's access to an old county road.
