Meeting of July 8, 2025

[Music] call this meeting of why I came fiscal court to order on this 8th day of July 2025 at 5:00 pm. Um Josh Wright, would you uh lead us in a prayer and a pledge to the flag? Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you again for allowing us to come together tonight, Lord, and be in your presence. We just love you. We thank you for all your many blessings. As you now watch over this meeting and be with our leaders, not only our local leaders, but our state, our national leaders, that they give their faith and their trust to you when they go to make decisions. We just love you. We thank you for many blessings. We're so thankful to live in this country. It's in your precious name we pray. Amen. That's to put the funds uh that was restricted for a certain use to come over into this year's budget from last year's. The rest the restriction stay. Yeah. Correct. Yes. All right. Need a motion. could come in the middle of a meeting if he gets back from his work thing in time. Work trip. You have the treasures financial settlement for the year ending 6:3025. That's the big thing. That's the big That's the big Can y'all hear me? Yes. You all had the annual treasure settlement, also the annual review of the county and also your black top history by district. And I did want to say um I was up at Frankfurt about four weeks ago um and heard the state local finance officer talking. They were doing budgets about how a lot of counties were having to pinch pennies in order to get their budget done. But I want to say that Ohio County is not pinching pennies and is actually doing very well. Uh the court has spent the last five years getting ready for the loss of cold severance money as everybody knows and you all have done a good job of that. In fact, I just wanted

to point out a few things. In the last five years, you all have given the CPI. Our health insurance is absolutely second to none. You provide the employee with an option of a free health insurance coverage and then to order or to add on your family, children or spouse. It is at a very reasonable cost. In fact, I had a young father that just called. I was with my daughter and he called um and his wife works at a very large place here in Ohio County and they chose to put their newborn child on our insurance because it was much more feasible. Also, in um the last five years, there's been no jobs lost. There's been no budget cuts. All departments have been fully funded. Nothing cut. The equipment needed has been purchased, albeit probably more green than anything else. You all support the fire departments,

the community parks, and the veterans. This county is really second to none. I hope you all realize that. Also, you're going to be left uh you all have done this. You have an emergency savings. So, you all are in good shape. You're in good shape compared to other counties. You should be proud. And Justin, I had your dad asked me, he came in a couple of weeks ago, what was the most memorable um memory I had. Well, some of it I can't repeat. Some of it I might want to forget, but probably it would have to be Greg Hill because he uh Uh he was uh so enthusiastic and I guess this is the funniest thing. I used to sit up there with you guys uh and with Justin, I mean with uh Greg and he absolutely would not stop talking in the middle of anything. He would try to carry on in conversation. So that's got to be You're going to have to relay that to your dad because I couldn't think of it then. Thank y'all. We want to thank you because you guide us. We really appreciate what you've done and the situation we're in. You're giving us a lot of credit for it, but uh

we know that you you've given us a lot of guidance, but you've given us pretty much all the guidance a little bit. So, we we do appreciate you and for what you've done. You're going to be missed. Candy is going to be great, but she is going to be missed. Absolutely. I'm glad you gave that report because I've heard that we're broke some people. Yeah. So every time I ever had a question and come to me come to you, you always answered it. Sometimes I didn't like what you told me, but she was always truthful. Appreciate and I appreciate that.
